How do I avoid feedback at max volume? Even with the mic as far away as the cord allows it is still terrible for feedback

Would this work as a PA system in a church hall?

It would depend on the size of the room and the noise levels of those present. I've used it outdoors with about 25people and indoors with about 30 but they were watching a demo and were quiet! It's not megaphone loud.
