Faithfull HSS 20mm Roughing Out Gouge Full Length Woodturning Chisel

Faithful chisels are excellent value and quality compared to the highly priced other makes which are in any case made from the same HSS materials.

Great gouge for roughing on lathe.Top quality workmanship/steel.

The 20mm roughing gouge is my third Faithfull woodturning tool. As with my other two, it is a sturdy practical hss adequate tool of not the best quality steel nor manufacture. Expect to spend a little time sharpening the new tool as the grind is quite rough and not fit for immediate use and they need sharpening more frequently but not excessively so. The feel and balance of the gouge is good and pleasant to handle but does not give the elation that those expensive tools give. That said it is a third of the price so I am more than happy with it, especially for rough work.

I wasn't sure whether to order one of these or not because I know its sounds silly but it seemed too cheap, especially when I compare it to the price I have paid for a Robert Sorby in the past. Anyway the other reviews are right, this is great roughing gouge, it feels nice to handle when turning and its very solid, the handle is nicely finished but again not to sorby levels but it does the same job. I would recommend this without question for this price, I have since ordered an Axminster and I have to say that although they have the more traditional handles they are not finished to he level of this Faithful Chisel. I have since order two more Faithful chisels from Amazon because I believe you can't go wrong at these reasonable prices.

Decent roughing gouge. Holds a good edge

Quite sturdy. All on time and packed. Replaced a similar one I have had for 20 years. Takes a lot of force. So will see if this one lasts fir as long as last. Sharpens well. Sturdy.

Stipuler neuf dans la fiche produit je recois aujourd'hui un produit déja utiliser avec encore de la sciure de bois sur la gouge et remis dans un emballage qui a visiblement aussi bien souffert... Mais le pire c'est surtout un filet qui a déja pris des coups et qu'on n'a meme pas pris la peine de réaffuter. Clairement pas sérieux!!
