All you need is ink and paper **Q: are these good beginner nibs?** A: Starter nibs set. They are quality that professionals will use. They have different levels of flex and pointed tip that is for copperplate type of inking. Beginners often start with manuscript pens. They are nibs of various widths and no flex. That is a different writing style. If you want to learn with a flexible pen, That's a good starter set. **Q: Can Sumi ink be used with this particular pen & nibs or does it have to be speed ball ink? Thx** A: I have used several quality inks and they seem to work fine. Not sure I have used Sumi ink. I always clean the nibs when i’m Done so they don’t dry up and clog. Only one of the nibs fits the small holder and it's so tiny it doesn't actually hold any ink (I even tried it with a thinner ink that permanent Indian, but no amount of dipping made it work). Yet the label states that of the six nibs, three are for the smaller holder.
