Might sound silly but are these alkaline batteries? My camera drains normal AA batteries and needs alkaline batteries.

These chargers ONLY, REPEAT ONLY, work with special rechargeable batteries labeled NiMH which means Nickel Metal Hydride batteries.If you attempt to charge any other batteries they could explode or cause a fire..To answer your question the batteries supplied are NiMH and NOT Alkaline.In most cases a rechargeable NiMH battery will work, the voltage is very slightly lower but that is all.

Are these batteries suitable for a bt Dect cordless telephone

Normally cordless phones use AAA Size batteries any AAA Rechargeable will do you should purchase batteries with the highest MA rating the MA is the milliamps that the batteries can push out the higher the better .I have not come across a domestic phone that AA batteries they all seam to be AAA

are they suitable for solar lights

I have used them for that purpose and they work okay.
