I made raised beds from 100mm x 200mm oak beams so the end result is a raised be 2.4 m long x800mm wide and 400 mm high. These screws are coated with a black paint and with a decent impact driver goes right through sleepers. I drilled a small pilot hole just to get me started and aimed straight, but the thread chomped right into the wood and it just drove all the way in with relative ease. I bought 8 for a 2.4m sleeper that was put in as a step, but merely affixed on top of cement, which made it wobble.
