The secret is brush it through when hair quite wet, then don’t touch it at all, air dry hair for best defined curls. Really works for me. Because of the thickness of my hair I find the bristles on this brush are too close together and rip at my hair a bit, so I picked up another tip watching Mell, which is to remove the rubber brush bristles section off the main body of the brush, then you can easily peel out a row of bristles. I’ve taken out every other row on mine. It’s perfect now I’ve tailored it to me and my hair. It’s now easier to get the brush through. I’ve been impressed with my first ever hairbrush in adulthood 😆. I’d never ever brush my hair when it’s dry (big massive no no for curlies), but it’s perfect for combing through wet hair to get the knots out with conditioner in the shower, or for doing the brushing through of products and to get added curl definition. Just had a look and the rubberised brush segment will pull out quite easily and slot back in on his. A few months ago I came across a tip for cleaning 'Tangle Teezer' brushes with plastic bristles that may well work on the Denman. Wet the brush, sprinkle liberally with bicarbonate of soda. Leave to work for 5-10 mins then rinse off. Will get rid of any grease, hair preparations etc. and makes my 'Tangle Teezer' look like new. Hope this helps. **Q: Is this just for men? If so why?** A: its slighly larger than the "womens" one and its black!!! **Q: how is it with very thick hair ?** A: Personally I think it's ideal for very thick hair. It's very well made.
