EXCELLENT
I purchased the DTW190Z before this but it wouldn’t take the wheel nuts off my car but for £58 I had to try it. It’s a very worthwhile one for lighter use if you don’t wish to spend to much money. When I received this one I put it on the lowest setting and it took my wheel nuts off with ease. Ide never put them on on the highest setting as I’m sure this animal would rip them apart. This mammoth monster weighs over 3.6 kilograms with a battery on so is extremely heavy but it’s quality at it’s very best. I like the way you can turn the lights off on this as I’ve always found that to be just a waste of battery power. This monster is bigger and heavier than the snap on I used to have and I strongly suspect more powerful. Makita have really gone to town on this. Tbh I probably didn’t need one this powerful or expensive but on reading the reviews on it thought ide just buy it. So if your looking for a monster that’s not going to tell you it carnt get that nut off this is the kiddie for you.

Should have gotten this years ago
Well let’s talk power, this thing is an absolute beast, it has zero issues getting off bolts too tight for hand tools, wheel nuts murder tight and that have sat for years, and I’m sure I’ll come across many other things this excels at throughout its use. It’s a heavy bit of kit, but with that comes the understanding that is not a flimsy tool, it’s not built cheap, or that it won’t be able to do the job, this 1/2” impact means business, 10/10 so far, I should have gotten this years ago, I would have saved hours on some jobs

Amazingly powerful and robust impact wrench
Having read the reviews of this wrench, no other make/model would do! This tool is incredible, and if you are making the decision to move from air to electric you will not regret this purchase. For such a powerful wrench, it is useful to have the three impact levels; I used to lower ones to angle tighten wheel bearing bolts and a hub bolt; it would have been nearly impossible with a breaker bar owing to the restricted access. As for undoing rusty nuts and bolts... it does not even struggle even on the worst a old salt-sprayed suspension assembly can throw at it. Controversionally, I would argue that the hammer action on this wrench will safely undo completely seized nuts and bolts that would be sheared off by a breaker bar! In the hand, this tool feels so robust and solid; when you squeeze the trigger for the first time you genuinely fall in love with it. The 5Ah batteries last days without charging, so forget any consideration for buying a compressor and an air wrench because this thing will make them I obsolete.

Awesome piece of kit, love it
Awesome piece of kit, I had seized wheel nuts and it pulled them off with ease, I couldn’t even budge them with a long bar and a hammer

Power hungry and impressive but not perfect
Struggled on some difficult bolts. Very power hungry as expected. Overall good quality and very surprising. The auto cut off is very helpful. The pulse helps even the most stuck bolts

Thoroughly impressed
I should have got this year's ago. Fantastic piece of kit. Honda crank pulley bolt, axle nuts and crusty subframe bolts came out with ease. Barely took it out of the lowest power setting either. Very impressed

Makes a previously daunting job into a pleasurable one!
I purchased the Makita DTW1002Z in April 2019 in order to change the front brake discs and calipers on a Land Rover Defender. I already have a Makita impact driver, which I use with a Milwaukee 1/4" hex to 1/2" square adapter, and although I am extremely happy with this setup, it didn't have the ability to undo the nuts and bolts involved in this job. The DTW1002 worked extremely well, making the task of removing the 52mm hub nuts and all the other bolts *very* quick and easy. Since then I have used it for a variety of tasks, including removing the suspension U-bolts on an Ifor Williams trailer, driving Thunderbolt concrete screws, and removing M24 nuts on field gates, and it has performed faultlessly. So far I have not even had to use it on the medium or high setting - low has worked just fine! As I already have a variety of Makita 18V LXT power tools, I just bought the naked wrench, and use the batteries from my drill, chainsaw etc to power it. If I had to think of minuses, then the wrench's size must be the first thing to mention. It's a big and heavy tool, and needs a fair bit of room in which to work. It can also be difficult to attach sockets onto the anvil, which is of the hog ring variety. Visually aligning the square recess of the socket to the anvil is much better than trying to attach the socket by feel. Removing the socket can take a bit of effort too, but since it's still quite a new tool, and I'm using some new impact sockets, things may well get easier in time. In summary, I am very happy to fully recommend this impact wrench - it saves a lot of effort and time, and can make a previously daunting job into a pleasurable one!

Strong heavy and does it job, from wheel nuts to big coach screws this beast pounds everything on the lowest setting. Had a flat tyre and had to wait 3 hours because I didn’t have this rattle gun or a wheel brace to change it. Never again! It’s my number one favourite tool.
