EXCELLENT
I purchased the DTW190Z before this but it wouldnโt take the wheel nuts off my car but for ยฃ58 I had to try it. Itโs a very worthwhile one for lighter use if you donโt wish to spend to much money. When I received this one I put it on the lowest setting and it took my wheel nuts off with ease. Ide never put them on on the highest setting as Iโm sure this animal would rip them apart. This mammoth monster weighs over 3.6 kilograms with a battery on so is extremely heavy but itโs quality at itโs very best. I like the way you can turn the lights off on this as Iโve always found that to be just a waste of battery power. This monster is bigger and heavier than the snap on I used to have and I strongly suspect more powerful. Makita have really gone to town on this. Tbh I probably didnโt need one this powerful or expensive but on reading the reviews on it thought ide just buy it. So if your looking for a monster thatโs not going to tell you it carnt get that nut off this is the kiddie for you.

Makes a previously daunting job into a pleasurable one!
I purchased the Makita DTW1002Z in April 2019 in order to change the front brake discs and calipers on a Land Rover Defender. I already have a Makita impact driver, which I use with a Milwaukee 1/4" hex to 1/2" square adapter, and although I am extremely happy with this setup, it didn't have the ability to undo the nuts and bolts involved in this job. The DTW1002 worked extremely well, making the task of removing the 52mm hub nuts and all the other bolts *very* quick and easy. Since then I have used it for a variety of tasks, including removing the suspension U-bolts on an Ifor Williams trailer, driving Thunderbolt concrete screws, and removing M24 nuts on field gates, and it has performed faultlessly. So far I have not even had to use it on the medium or high setting - low has worked just fine! As I already have a variety of Makita 18V LXT power tools, I just bought the naked wrench, and use the batteries from my drill, chainsaw etc to power it. If I had to think of minuses, then the wrench's size must be the first thing to mention. It's a big and heavy tool, and needs a fair bit of room in which to work. It can also be difficult to attach sockets onto the anvil, which is of the hog ring variety. Visually aligning the square recess of the socket to the anvil is much better than trying to attach the socket by feel. Removing the socket can take a bit of effort too, but since it's still quite a new tool, and I'm using some new impact sockets, things may well get easier in time. In summary, I am very happy to fully recommend this impact wrench - it saves a lot of effort and time, and can make a previously daunting job into a pleasurable one!

Powerful and serious bit of kit.
Having bought a number of so called high torque guns and having them under perform the stated figures I opted to spend more and also utilise my existing battery drill batteries. This impact is exceptional well built, and extremely powerful. It will destroy normal sockets be warned. I paid for a Makita impact set and glad I did. It is a heavy brute and you know you are hefting it if holding it under a car out stretched. It has not failed yet to shift a bolt or nut. I used it to spin off a 36mm nut off if a L200 drive shaft that had been on for 178000 miles, whilsted off much to out surprise! Wheel nuts are so easy, I suspect if you wanted too it would easily strip the treads if you kept on.... It is expensive but buy cheap! and buy twice! (or three times in my case). Should of bought this first time.

An absolute beast
I tried a mains powered impact gun, air powered and a cheaper battery powered one, but they all struggled with rusted in bolts and nuts on my old camper. I was struggling to get the bolts out of the caliper carriers on my van and none of these would shift it. I even tried a breaker bar with a jack under it to give it some serious leverage, but it just resulted in the entire van lifting and the bar bending. I took it to a garage and asked them to have a go, but they gave up and said the bolts wouldnโt budge and they were concerned the bolt would sheer off. I bit the bullet and purchased this as a last resort and Iโm glad I did. It had those bolts out within seconds. It is definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made and itโs made short work of a fair few rusted bolts and nuts. If you do some serious work on vehicles, donโt waste your money on cheaper ones. Buy this and itโll never let you down.

Awesome but big.
This thing is awesome. Bought to undo hub bolts tightened to 180Nm + 180degrees with thread lock. Removed them like they were 5mm screws. Wheel bolts need the lowest setting and itโs amazingly quick to remove a wheel now even when the wheel isnโt braked. Itโs a very large machine though donโt expect to wield it in tight spaces.

Power hungry and impressive but not perfect
Struggled on some difficult bolts. Very power hungry as expected. Overall good quality and very surprising. The auto cut off is very helpful. The pulse helps even the most stuck bolts
