It does work! I was very skeptical but this replacement pump works much better than the original the only downside is the sound. It does make a slight humming that was louder than the one that came with my water dish originally. It’s built exactly like the ones that come with the fountain so you buy the same filters and clean the same way. It has a little blue cover over the actual intake pump and you can remove that to scrub out all the dirt if needed. Major differences is the USB plug in. Very different than the AC pack from the one that comes with the fountain, I’ve had this two months and no problems though. Water flow is the same, I’ve noticed no change in the quality of the pump.

Update: seller was great and sent me a replacement pump, which has been working fine. Old review - Pump stopped working after 45 days… tried cleaning etc but should have lasted longer than that.

Perfect replacement. Works well for travel since it can be plugged into a portable charger.

Very disappointed! Pump is extremely weak. The pump I replaced it with still worked but was no longer flowing as strongly as it was when it was new. My old pump was 5 years old but still had a better water flow than this new one. The original pumps were great. People would ask if there was water running in my house because you could hear the sound of the water flowing but you can't even barely hear a trickle with how weak this one is. It does look exactly the same as the original pump with the exception of the blue cap. It looks the same but does not in any way perform the same. I will be returning this pump.

It works really well, but I looked at my purchase history. I buy this pump every six months so it lasts about six months and my cats water dish that’s kind of annoying.

My cats love it! Easy to clean every few weeks. Fills easy and only need to fill every few days for my 3 cats who prefer it to a plain water. Very quiet. I Actually miss the sound of their other water fountain, but this one is more hygienic.

The main difference between this filter and one sold for aquariums or garden fountains, what have you, is...um...yeah, pretty much no difference. Except! With this one they are listing the cat fountains with which it will properly work, based on its dimensions, and I'm not entirely sure if there might be some variance with this or that brand of aquarium fountain that makes it unsuitable. My general plan is I measure, compare - if the listing has dimensions listed - then comb through the reviews and hope some helpful other-pet-owner with the right brand of fountain has posted their results. Also, my own experience is that brands and manufacturers change - I am rarely buying the same pump a second time, years later. This one is working well, and should continue to for I'd expect at least 3-5 years unless I do something dumb like let it run dry. (Huge, HUGE no-no. Don't even let the water dip down past half way in the fountain would be my advice.) I don't expect, but will report here, any premature failure.

This pump is quieter and cheaper than the one that came with my Petsafe stainless steel fountain, but the water pressure is lower and the plastic is flimsier. There was also some strange shiny residue on the inside of the motor when I opened it up to clean it before installation. Although I cleaned all the parts thoroughly, my cats stopped drinking from their fountains after I put these filters in. They also got gastrointestinal infections around the same time. That may or may not be related, but the possibility is unsettling enough that I plan to order replacement filters directly from the manufacturers instead. As a side note, the wiring was pretty strange -- I bought the type without a USB adaptor and the box was labeled as such, but an AC->USB adaptor was still included. Furthermore, the AC end of the cord didn't connect to the AC wall adaptor that came with the original Petsafe fountain motor. I had some extra USB block chargers lying around so I was still able to use it, but I bought the "without USB" design so as to still utilize my existing AC adaptors. All in all, it just wasn't worth it to save a few bucks.

Works well only need a 5v usb power supply to operate.
