Are the rules in English as the picture shows French?

Yes they are in English. It is a fantastic edition of the game with lots of different game ideas. Being made of plastic, it is a fantastic for the holidays. Can fully recommend.

Is the beach version easier with less symbols. We have original dobble and love it but don't want it to be easier just different symbols.

I don't have the beach version but we do have 3 different versions and all have about the same amount of symbols on.

product details say that the waterproof cards are made of cardboard, but the description says they are plastic. Is it just a waterproof coating?

It feels like a waterproof coating, although the cards are quite tuff
