Review: Brilliant but pricy. Well worth the money - I bought this for my 5 year old grandson. I wanted something that would grow with him and last. I ummed and aahed for ages because of the price but eventually decided to go for it. It arrived in perfect condition 3 days early! Grand son and Dad immediately started building the picture on the box. The pieces are robust and well made but a little bit fiddly for very small fingers. They like the box for storage and said that the castors are a great bonus. Very pleased.

**Q: Can you fit extra blocks in the box? We have 800 now and I'd like to get them all in one container**
A: Oddly the other answers to this question are incorrect. The size of a single block is 11.7 x 2.34 x .78 cm

That is 1.303 cubic inches per block. 1303 cubic inches for 1000. 0.75 cubic feet.

The box inner dimensions ( I just measured it as I have one ) are 14" x 14" x 14". That is 1.59 cubic feet.

Laying the blocks inside perfectly you can fit nearly double the amount of blocks.

To give a more accurate estimate, within the box you can lay a 3x3 pattern of 5 blocks per layer flat. That is 45 blocks per layer. The blocks are .307 inches thick. At 14 inches tall you can fit 45 layers. 45x45 = 2025.

You can fit 2000 blocks in one of these containers.

If you just throw 1000 blocks in and shuffle it a bunch, only 1000 fit.

**Q: How do these compare to the Keva pine blocks in terms of size and durability?**
A: Thank you for asking.  KAPLA and KEVA blocks are identical in size.  KAPLA is made from Marine Pine via the South of France.  This pine will never warp or move.  It is very light weight.  Each of the KAPLA blocks are identical in weight as well.  The KEVA is made from maple and made in the United States.  KAPLA has been around since 1987.  We do know that customers have passed their blocks down to Grandchildren so they do stand the test of time. We hope this helps.  Please feel free to follow ups with questions. **Q: Can you do contraptions with these planks?**
A: Yes! It is possible to make all sorts of contraptions with KAPLA. What makes KAPLA special is the material and the size of the planks. KAPLA is made of a French pine wood that has a certain amount of resin in it. When you are building, there is friction between the pieces and this is what allows you to build incredible and unbelievable structures. Simple or more complex! The unique ratio of KAPLA planks makes them fun and easy to use! KAPLA was invented by Mr. Tom van der Bruggen in 1987 in order to build a scale model of a castle that he continued to actually build in the south of France! Build towers, mazes, marble runs, "falling" structures, and anything that you can imagine with KAPLA!

**Q: Does the box have actual wheels underneath?**
A: The product comes with the wheels inside of the box and they are easy (and optional) to attach!

This arrived very quickly. The kids (and myself and my husband) have had hours of fun with it. Suitable for all ages and will last forever. The only complaint we've had is from our 4 year old who wants it to be more colourful and has asked if he can colour them in. I said no....you can buy coloured bricks so I might do that. But all in all, brilliant product for all ages!
