Can i use this to seal a crack in my aquarium without the gun?

Maybe if you are strong enough to push at the same time as pointing it in the right place - much easier with the gun though!

Would this work under water? Or does the surfaces need to be dried first

For silicone to adhere the surface must be dry and left dry until the silicone has totaly cured. There are other products that will cure underwater but are not suitable for use in an aquarium. This silicone under review is specificaly for aquarium use and is very good.

Can this be used to build 8x2x2 feet 12 mm glass aquarium

The answer is yes, I built a 72"x 24"x18" tank with silicone sealant a few years ago and its still going
