Great for aspiring chefs!
My 5 year old got this for Christmas (at my suggestion to the grandparents) as he loves to help in the kitchen. This cookbook is ideal for kids. The pictures are stunning and since we tend to eat with our eyes, this is a great approach for a child to get them interested. I am a huge fan of Taste of Home and own several of their cookbooks. This has a wide variety of recipes for everyone and for every kind of meal from snacks to drinks to desserts. It doesn't have nutritional facts for the recipes, which is a downfall, but I cook and bake enough to have a rough idea what some recipes might be in calorie count, etc. But it's gotten my aspiring chef interested, he loves to simply look at the book, pick out things he wants to try, and we get time in the kitchen where he learns valuable skills, feels good about himself and his efforts, and feels more motivated to eat what is served since he played a key role in prep!

Thanks "Taste of Home!"
I gave this Cookbook to my landlord and his wife for Christmas. They have 6 kids and I thought they would really enjoy it with the whole family. I didn't get to see it because I had it mailed directly to them through shipping. However, they sent me a $50.00 gift certificate for Christmas in return and so I am thinking they were very happy with it. You can't go wrong with any "Taste of Home Cookbook!" I have the "Taste of Home Baking Book" and it is well made, is full of beautiful pictures and is one of the nicest and largetest cookbooks I own. It would also be a great gift for an avid baker. I am considering purchasing another one for a gift.

Some of them are easy and I could assist them in making but for ...
I was expecting recipes that kids could do, but most of these I wouldn't expect my 12 year old to make. Some of them are easy and I could assist them in making but for the most part, I would make these and have my kids help me with some of it. And a lot of these recipes have special specific ingredients. A 3-ingredient banana pancake would be more appropriate. Not hand made, made from scratch, all organic and gluten free, free-range pancakes. I need a cookbook with easy recipes that my kids can take the wheel while I stand back and supervise. Pigs in a blanket. Different ways to make a pb&j. Kid recipes. Not a meatball casserole. I does get 3 stars because I make some of these recipes and they are pretty good. But it's not a kid cookbook.

Good stuff
This book had some good stuff in it! I was surprised by some of the recipes..... A recipe for tacos that called for browning a pound of beef then seasoning it with an envelope of taco seasoning then adding a can of beans to it .... I wouldn't really call that a recipe. And do people really need instructions on how to make a ham sandwich? But the BLUEBERRY SAUCE recipe with the puffed oven pancake recipe makes it all worth it. I never make pancakes without the blueberry sauce any more. It is sooooo goooood! I dollop it on yogurt or oatmeal too. It is worth buying the book just to make this sauce!

8 year old gives it two thumbs up
It's a cute book My daughter was intrigued and is anxious to make EVERYTHING! So, this is good, however the recipes still require a parents help. At least in my opinion they do. My daughter is (just turned) 8 and I make sure I"m around when it calls for the oven, and chopping things that really need to be chopped with a decent knife. They aren't just finger prepping recipes. I'd recommend.

Granddaughters should love it - I do.
I ordered this kids' cookbook because I am hoping my granddaughters will take an interest in cooking some good, healthful food with me. I also love Taste of Home and have many past issues of their magazines. But I need something to guide me to recipes that are simple and appealing to kids. The illustrations are "gorgeous and appealing" (typical of Taste of Home). I am anxious to share this cookbook with my 3 granddaughters - ages 8 to 12 and maybe my grandson age 9 will want to join us in some good cooking this summer. Also, the price was right for this paperback edition that looks like new - perfect condition.

Great cookbook for kids and parents.
My son, who loves to cook, received this as a birthday gift. The pictures are fantastic. There is a picture for every recipe, which is a huge plus when it comes to kids' cookbooks. He can look through it, and see exactly which things he'd like to make. One small con is that many of the recipes are not exactly homemade (which might not be a con to some). Many call for "packaged biscuits or mixes" but there are still plenty of recipes that do not!

) Very kid and Mom friendly - I love it so much I just may end up purchasing ...
I purchased this as a gift for my sister-in-law and nephew. The book has LOTS of pictures, and uses symbols to denote recipe difficulty (for young ones or older kids) as well as color coding for types of recipes (lunch, snacks, desserts, breakfasts, etc.) Very kid and Mom friendly - I love it so much I just may end up purchasing another for myself (and I don't consider myself much of a cook!)

Not what I was expecting
The only positive thing about this book is the many colour photographs of the recipes but that is about it. For a start, I think it is an American book, so everything is in US measurements, and many of the recipes require ingredients that you can only find in America such as Canola oil, graham crackers etc. Some of the recipes are extremely unhealthy, the one that I couldn't believe was a peanut butter, chocolate and marshmallow sandwich! I will be sending this book back and asking for a refund.

Sicher, wirklich gesunde Kost muss man hier suchen.
