My most successful Christmas present
This was by far my most successful Christmas present - for my 40 yr-old son ! He loves all things technical and indeed admitted that he was thinking of buying one for himself - but a much more expensive model. Now he thinks that it is best to learn with this "toy", rather than risk crashing, or worse injuring someone, with a larger model. The Micro can be flown indoors with precision, but also can climb to heights above the tallest trees outdoors, and record panoramic views on its tiny video camera, on which the quality is amazing. It can be flown in many places where a larger drone could not, because with its protective plastic ring it wouldn't seriously hurt someone if it crashed into them, and then it has the advantage of looking like a toy so people don't suspect what it is capable of. Although these quadcopters are inherently stable, they do crash - you can see lots of examples on youtube - and that can be expensive and dangerous. I also purchased the Mudder upgrade kit with four spare batteries and charger, essential for longer term flying, as well as the AFUNTA Spare Parts Pack) since pieces do get broken.

Personal most recommended starter-drone
Bought as a belated father's day present. Almost identical to an H107C I received a few years ago, this little quad has already given my Dad hours of fun. It's practically crash-proof, which is good because you're going to be flying indoors a lot if you're a newbie. It comes with a prop guard - it's taped under the white plastic part of the packaging - a lot of people think it doesn't have one. With the prop guard on it won't go back in its normal spot in the box but you can chuck it under the white plastic part and it will happily rattle around in there without issue. Also - if it won't take off properly, check you have the props on the right way around!Camera quality is okay. Flight performance is okay. You're not going to excel at any particular front with this drone, but it serves well to give you a little taste of what its like to have a flying camera as well as a racing drone, so you can get your skills up for either with this. If you're aspiring to fly RC helicopters or RC planes, this drone will familiarise you with the basic aspects of flying those as well - specifically control axis and getting used to inverting some controls when the aircraft is facing you.Overall it's a brilliant toy for its price, and I recommend any RC hobbyist get one. I'm flying 3D stunt helicopters nowadays, but this little quad is still great fun!

This is absolutely the drone you're looking for!
I bought this back in March (It's currently December) and i can tell you it is a great little drone. This was my first drone but i can tell you i'm hooked now and will be sticking with the hobby for a long time to come. This thing is so stable it's an absolute joy to fly around the house. Now that's not to say that it's easy to fly when you start out, it doesn't have altitude hold which means you have to constantly adjust the throttle to keep it hovering where you want it, just small changes here and there but that makes it so much more interesting than the drone doing all the work for you. As long as you don't give up you will get used to it and be zipping around upsetting spouses and pets in no time. This thing is basically indestructible, as i said i've had it since March and i'm still on my first set of propellers and motors. I've had some awful crashes from very high up outside and thought for sure it was toast but it just keeps on going. I fly with the prop guard in place as i primarily fly indoors (The drone is so light you need a very calm day to fly it outdoors and those are rare where i live) and this has kept everything safe over the last few months. I would definitely recommend picking up a crash pack for spare parts just in case you're not as lucky as i've been because once you start with this you're not going to want to put it down.If you choose to buy this drone i strongly recommend getting five or six other batteries of the same size (380 mAh) or larger along with a parallel charger so you can charge them all at once (you can find many examples on Amazon). If you don't get additional batteries you're looking at 5 mins tops of flight time with the standard battery followed by a 30min wait for it to charge back up. Trying to learn this way will get you no where as you don't get to fly for long enough duration to learn anything but once you're flying on multiple batteries and charging one while using another then you start to pick it up really fast and it becomes second nature.Personally what i would recommend is that when you first start flying don't fly on the pre-set rates (sensitivity), this was far too powerful for me starting out (especially in a cramped indoors space) and nearly caused me to give up. Halve the rates down to 30, this reduces the sensitivity of the drone and makes it much easier to fly for a starter (Details of how to do this are on page 14 of the manual, there are also loads of videos online showing how to program this on the transmitter if you prefer to see an example). Any lower than 30 and i found it was too unresponsive. Once you've got the hang of it at this speed you can start to increase the sensitivity again but it really helps to build your confidence in the beginning. You need this drone in your life, for £30 what have you got to lose, i guarantee it will provide months if not years of great fun. The fantastic thing is that once you start to outgrow it you needn't buy a whole new drone, a little bit of soldering and you can upgrade the motors for an even more powerful flying experience, it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Lots Of Fun!
I bought this as a gift for my 13 year old son who quickly learned how to control it (despite being very complex - a lot of instruction reading is required!) on a big open field near my house. He would frequently enjoy using it during the summer and actually got quite good at flying it too. However, the small lithium polymer battery which is one of the drones best features as it is light-weight is also one of its worst as it quickly runs out of charge when in use - as well as when not in use! they recommend that you charge the battery every few weeks even if it has not been used to prevent damage. Like many others we forgot this so ended up with a battery that no longer charges! The drone itself is perfectly fine even after a lot of crashes! and the blades which are easily lost during a crash come with spares and a large pack of new ones can be bought for around £4.All in all a good fun product but as its summer again and my son will be out flying I've now got to buy a replacement battery for about £4.

Great fun!
Tricky to get the hang of and you certainly need a bit of space initially but a really well built, fun bit of kid. Very robust. Crashed it quite a few times and it's easy to get going again and still in one piece. Fits in the palm of your hand. Start of slow, and try it a foot or 2 from the ground initially.
