Do you mean the little clip on the back of the volume control? If so I think it is meant to be slipped over a shirt or a very thin jumper!

Q: Should the microphone mute hard button on the cable work with a PC? I switch it but nothing happens, people can still hear me :-(

It works with mine, please check your drivers that they are up to date check ur voice capture settings also buddy.

My sons works fine with his xbox 1 but he has an adapter for his controller as his headphone jack broke stoped working.

Q: Can I buy replacement ear cups made from a different material? I have beard and this headset makes a lot of noise as the fabric rubs against my face.

I've not got a clue, I guess your best bet would be to contact Logitech directly. Apparently the pads on the G433 are removable, I cannot find anything about the G233s though. http://support.logitech.com/en_au/article/Remove-G433-headset-ear-pads
