Good product that worked well in BMW.

I first used this on my daughters 2007 VW Polo car. It was unused for almost 2 years, we just started it occasionally, and even less occasionally 'exercised' it up and down our short (private road - it was on SORN during her time abroad). Once we wanted to take it for MOT before her finally agreeing we sold it, the emissions light came on (luckily coming back, after a pass, so it was not heavily dirty), but VW sensors LOVE lights coming on sending you to their main 'stealers' if they can!!. I borrowed a tool to put it out, but after about 20 miles it came on again. I added this bottle, plus about 10/15 litres of good (non supermarket) fuel and put the light out again. It never came back on - this really does the job, I have since bought again, but have found it more competitive elsewhere; plus there was some sort of mess up with Eurocarparts and we had to remind them of our order after it had not arrived for almost a month as best I recall. They were very fast to respond when we made contact though, we should have done so sooner in all fairness to them.

Added this to my 16yr old 4ltr Jeep Cherokee. I've had the car from new and love it so much I cannot part with it but I have noticed it having an uneven idle and a feeling that it is working harder than normal. So far all my emissions tests have been well within limits but at this age I thought - what the hell. Amazingly from the start the engine felt stronger & smoother - normally I have to give a bit of throttle to back up my drive but after allowing the engine to run a little it reversed up without needing to touch the throttle. A 20 mile run seems to have given the car a bit more pep. It sounds quieter and pulls more easily. I'll be monitoring the effect in the longer term and may throw another bottles worth in in the next month. Additional comment Now in Feb 2015 and just added another bottle. Again the car seems pepped up. I think I will add another in 3 mths - it will clear out the Cat and after so many years of adding nothing, plus its a 4 Litre engine, there could be plenty of gunge to clean out.

I decided to use this because I was having problems with my engine management light coming on. I took my vehicle to the main dealer and they put it on the diagnostic computer, which showed the emissions were not right. They suggested it was probably a bad batch of fuel and told me it was fine to drive, once I refuelled I should have no more problems. I then paid the £35 for the diagnostic and went away happy the problem was not going to cost me a fortune. As you can probably tell already, I know nothing about cars. Several weeks later, the engine management light came on again, so it was another trip to the garage. It cost me another £35 but this time they told me I needed a new catalytic convertor at a cost of £600. I was shocked. My car is nine years old, but I'd had it since new so I know it was well looked after (rarely used & serviced every year). My friend told me about this and I found it easily on Amazon. I ordered two bottles and straight after use immediately noticed it was running far more smoothly. The downside was the dreaded engine management light was still on. My car is quite large and my friend suggested I order another bottle or two. Well another two bottles later (four in all) my car is running really smoothly and the dreaded light went off. I have waited several weeks til posting this review and the light is still off, and the car is running like new. I thoroughly recommend this product.

Reading about the product I thought I'd give it ago and found that the car did respond quicker and felt running better so for me I'm glad i gave it ago.

Bought this item based on all the good reviews. My dads Mitsubishi pinin had a tapping noise coming from engine and was randomly revving really high! Put the whole bottle in in a quarter tank of fuel, not as per instructions but read others had done this. Having given it a good drive didn't really notice much difference, however after a day or so I noticed that the high revving has completely gone! Brilliant! However, the tapping is still there! Can't say I've noticed any fuel consumption difference as some claim but I guess it would depend on the state/age of your car when you put it in? In all I think if you've got an issue with your engine give this a go, at [] pounds it's cheaper than what garages charge! I also did some research and forte appear to do some similar products, not tried them but may be worth a go as similar price to cataclean? To finalise, I can't complain about my purchase, generally pleased with the result and would highly recommend to anyone reading this!

My daily hack is a 2000 Volvo V70 T5 which I have owned for 17 years and which now has just slipped past 260k miles. The car has always been well maintained and has been a faithful servant for 20k per year commuting and dog-lugging for a number of years, largely without any real hitches. Over the last several weeks, however, the car has been stuttering markedly between 2000 and 3000 rpm and has been throwing up a CEL and OBD2 codes, indicating both rich and lean running, at random, every 100 miles or so. After cleaning the MAF sensor, checking for vacuum leaks and replacing the boost control valve, all of which are a likely culprit for the issues I've been experiencing, the problem persisted. Although the lambda sensor was replaced relatively recently (c. 30k miles ago) and the spark plugs are only around 12k miles old, I thought about replacing both items as a prelude to the dreaded, last resort, injector replacement and/or new ETM module. As a shot to nothing, I first threw in a bottle of a quality PEA-rich injector cleaner - which made no real difference - followed by a bottle of Cataclean into the last 15 litres of fuel in the tank. After a 100 mile commute, on a freshly reset CEL light, the problem appeared to be cured. The car pulled like it should, the hesitancy/pinking had gone, and after what now amounts to 500 miles of driving I haven't seen a recurrence of the CEL light or the pinking/stuttering on boost. It may only be a tub of acetone and xylene, but it evidently works very well for certain niggly issues relating to potentially gummed up components in the emissions and exhaust system. Worth a try if you've got an older car with a troubling, intractable, and potentially expensive issue.

I think the Cataclean did help. The fuel economy has improved and so far so good no error message has re-appeared appeared.

This is my story. My Honda Odyssey EX-L 2005 (85K miles, first owner, bought new, all regular maintenance) all of sudden had a CEL light on 11/22/2016. It threw a code of P0420 pointing at catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1). Based on my research, there are too many things that can cause this code. However, if it comes to the catalytic convertor or oxygen sensor replacement, the expense could be too high. So, I decided to take care of it myself before I go to Honda dealer or other mechanics. I first changed the engine oil at Walmart, just regular Quake 5w20 oil. Besides, I asked the technician at Walmart to add a bottle of Lucas (heavy duty Oil stabilizer, white bottle) as well because the engine seems to burn a bit oil over time. I also filled the gas tank up (regular 87 gas) and added a bottle of Heet (red bottle, Heet Fuel Line Antifreeze, Water Remover and Fuel Injector Cleaner) into the gas tank to remove water and hopefully to clean the fuel injector. Then I cleared the code myself and started driving the vehicle locally. After driving about 135 miles, the engine light was on again and had the same single P0420 code. At the time, the Cataclean I ordered from Amazon arrived so I want to give it a shot. At this weekend (12/03/2016), I already drove the car for about 190 miles since I filled the gas full. I poured the whole Cataclean into the gas tank, which had a bit less than a quarter tank of gas. Then I drove on to highway. As some reviewers suggested, when there were no cars close to me, I stepped on the gas pedal hard (almost 'floored' it) to get RPM to 5K. When the RPM reached 5k, the speed of the car was about 85 miles on highway and then RPM immediately fell back below 4k and 3k itself. I released the gas pedal to slower the car. (If you do that as well, do be careful. Nobody wants to get a speed ticket on high way, right?). I did the same cycle for about 5 times on highway: slowing down to about 60 miles/hr -- flooring gas pedal to reach 5k RPM (speed over 80 mile/hr) -- releasing gas pedal to let the car slow down. After driving about 30 miles, I stopped in front of a mall to shop a while. About 15 minutes later I came back to the car and started it. You know what, the engine light was off, on its own! I drove another 40 plus miles after that and stopped at a gas station to add some fuel. I just added 6 gallons of regular 87 gas. As I do not plan to add premium gas in the future, I did not want to do it now as some reviewers suggested. With 6 gallons of fuel, I drove more than 120 miles before I filled the gas tank again. That 6 gallons of gas gave me about 21-22 miles/gallon gas mileage, which was about right for Honda Odyssey. The engine light is still off (after driving 170 miles). I felt the car was getting more power after adding the cataclean. The acceleration was smooth and more powerful. I did not observe any black smoke (or any kind of smoke) from the tailpipe when I floored the gas pedal. The car did not have any driving issue or noise or anything. I did not expect it worked so well when I did not see any smoke or anything coming out of the tailpipe. But obviously it helped clean the catalytic convertors or oxygen sensors or whatever that threw the P0420 code. I am not sure how long the code will be off and I will post a follow-up comment in the future. Again, the car has been maintained regularly for oil change, transmission flush, and I added sea foam to gas, oil gasket, and even brake air intake lines once every other year. However, the car was driven mostly local in the past 4-5 years. I can tell you, its RPM never reached 5K in the past 5 years. What causes the P0420 code? I do not know. But obviously the Cataclean did help at this time. Spending $16-20 on the Cataclean before you touch the expensive oxygen sensors or catalytic convertors could be a good investment. I plan to buy another bottle in case the code comes back again. Good luck to you DIY maintenance.
