Great product, wish I’d discovered it years ago..
Brilliant product.. forget wood stain or paint like products, it’s so easy to apply, very thin so penetrates deeply . I have a slatted garden bench , I gave it two coats top and bottom and still had an inch left in the bottom of the tin ..I think it’s 250 ml , doesn’t seem like a lot but it goes a long way. Of course it’s best suited for new smooth timber. On pure white pine it takes it down a couple of shades, just enough to have the right effect, it shows the grain beautifully . in warm weather it dries very quickly so you can give it two coats in a short space of time, leave s no oily residue. when it rains the water just runs off it , no water penetration. It might need a fresh coat yearly, but it’s so quick and easy to use that wouldn’t be a problem plus it’s cheap enough to buy.

Quality is best
Good quality & does the job of protecting our garden furniture against all weathers- rain, sun & wind, living on the coast, we needed an oil that protects. No odor, durable & drying time is approx 2 days completely.

Repulsive, but effective
I've been using Rustins wood protection products for a long time, even when they have been hard to get because (presumably) of safety or environmental concerns. They have all been very effective, and this one is no exception. I'm using it on new, unfinished spruce furniture. It darkens the wood very slightly, as plain water does, until it dries. The finish is smooth (if you're carefull) and low-gloss. Although this is described as a "oil", in application it behaves more like a clear varnish, although perhaps a bit thinner. If applied carelessly it will run and set into bumps or drips like a varnish wood. It doesn't spread along the wood fibres the way that, say, linseed oil does -- it needs to be applied thoroughly. The instructions say to use a cloth, but I prefer a brush when the workpiece is a fiddly shape -- it's hard to get a cloth into little nooks and crannies. Because the finish is non-colouring (or only very slightly colouring), it can be hard to tell what parts of the work you have covered; but that, of course, will be the same for any clear finish. If you do use a cloth (or even a brush) I would strongly recommend wearing gloves. Although the problem may not be noticed immediately, there is a problem with long-term sensitization of the skin when using products like this. When applied with a brush, outside on a warm day, the finish dries enough to handle in about one hour. I guess a thinner coat applied with a cloth would dry quicker. This product is extremely volatile. The fumes it releases do not smell unpleasant, but they are exactly the kinds of thing (volatile hydrocarbons) one should be wary of inhaling. I know from experience that in a confined, poorly-ventilated space, the fumes cause headaches, dizziness, and stinging eyes. I would suggest working outdoors if at all possible. It that isn't possible, ensure good ventilation, and try to keep your face away from the workpiece. All this information is on the tin, but there is a tendency for manufacturers to over-state their safety warnings. I'm pretty sure that the safety warnings are not over-stated in this case. You can't buy this stuff -- so far as I can tell -- from mainstream DIY outlets like Wickes, and I guess there's a reason for that.

Easy application
Perfect finish for a bamboo stair rail and posts. Easy application with a soft cloth and seems to provide great protection for the wood. No issues with this oil and goes a long way for application.

Wow thank you 😊
Had a pain chest of drawers which I sanded with 80 grit and then finished off with medium and fine Grit...... wiped down with a damp and applied a lovely thin coat of this oil and instantly saw how beautiful the green was and felt like it was deeply moisturizing the wood and it was very easy to use and also dispersed across the wood very evenly and with fantastic coverage. Only needed one coat and it has really bought out the beautiful hues and tones of The Pine.

Consistent, easy to apply, great quality overall
I've tried a few cheaper brands Danish oil previously, with no big issues, but decided to go with a recommended brand for the latest project. I had a large set of new Ikea Ivar shelves to protect/finish and decided to stain the side supports black (Ronseal 10 Year), and oil the shelves and cupboard boxes with Danish oil. I ended up having to buy three 1L tins from Amazon (should have just got a 2.5L from the start...) but was delighted with the consistency of the tins, each giving the same finish. Just in case it helps someone - I sanded the shelves then used a brush to apply the first coat, leaving each shelf for 5-10 mins before wiping off the excess oil with kitchen roll. I left them to dry overnight, then very lightly sanded them back (320 grit) and applied another coat in the same way as previously. The second coat uses a lot less oil, and dried again overnight. I didn't find a third coat added much on this pine wood, so decided to give them another VERY light sand (400 grit) and pop the shelving together. I plan to oil the tops of the shelves again in 6 months or so with a rag - just to keep them in tip top condition. Overall a great product, and well worth the extra few pounds over the cheapy alternatives in my opinion. I'm not sure it smells any worse than the other Danish oils I've used in the past. The smell isn't horrible, but does take a week or so to fade after it's all dry. The photo I've added shows the shelves part way through fitting, with oiled wood on the outside (left and right side) and a couple of unoiled shelves in the middle and bottom middle for comparison.

Very easy to apply
This oil has been formulated using a blend of natural oils and resins, making it ideal for use on all types of bare wood, including hardwoods, softwoods, and even plywood. Its unique formulation ensures that it penetrates deep into the wood grain, providing a durable, water-resistant finish that will protect your wood surfaces from damage caused by moisture and wear. One of the standout features of Rustins DANO2500 Original Danish Oil is its ease of use. It also dries quickly, meaning that you can apply multiple coats in a single day. The finish produced by this oil is both attractive and durable. It has a low sheen that enhances the natural beauty of the wood grain, without making it too shiny or glossy. It also provides excellent protection against scratches and scuffs, making it ideal for use on high-traffic areas like floors and tabletops.
