My mum, who was an amazingly talented artist would ALWAYS have a set of 24 in her bag, along with a small sketch pad, she would draw several pictures a day, they were her go to pencils when doing small credit card size drawings. Hope this helps. **Q: Is this similar or equivalent to prismacolor pencils? (I’m new thanks in advance)** A: After trying several other brands I've found these to be good if you like a firmer pencil. They get a good fine point if you need it. They sharpen well so you don't loose a lot of the pencil to lead breakages. They layer and blend well. This is a good budget friendly set. **Q: Are these pencils good for someone who has sore wrists?** A: I enjoyed my faber castell pencils (my first big set) but the hexagonal shape isn't particularly comfortable for the fingers. With foam covers they were easier. They are pretty colours but subtle not bright like some. I found them a good starting pencil. However I'd also consider the Staidler Ergosoft triangular pencils for better comfort. I have a few of these pencils (in the Blue watercolour range) and they are easier in the hand and brighter I think. They also do the Red regular colour pencils Ergo soft which I hear blend and layer quite nicely too. I find any pencil work will cause hand issues for me so it's a matter of not overdoing. If you like layering then that's a lot more work than straight putting on colour. I have the Arteza Pencils which are bright and cover well and quickly. They blend quite well but you can't layer much before they slide. I loved the Chromaflow for the beautiful bright blendable easy color but they don't hold a point like the faber castell and they do break more frequently esp when I wanted a sharp point. I'd suggest whatever you go for, buy some silicone or foam cushiony covers to add comfort. I bought foam ones and they fit snug on the faber castell. I also bought silicone ones for the Arteza fatter pencils but still had to cut them to get them to fit. Being silicone being sliced doesn't affect the use as they cling nicely and I find it's easier to sharpen with these. I also have some polychromos; they are quite hard work😓 getting the depth of colour but you can do multiple layers (depending on your paper) until you get what you want.
