Do you have to strain the grains everyday, or can you make up a batch every 2nd or 3rd day?

Hi, I have been using kefir grains for the last couple of years and here is what I do: I have 3 jars on the go, each contains roughly 3 teaspoons of kefir grains and 200 ml of full fat goats milk. Let it ferment it is in the kitchen out of direct sunlight for 24 hours, it then spends 2 days in the fridge. It is much nicer to drink chilled than at room temperature. I strain it just before I drink it. Use a plastic sieve, then make it again as above. It is great stuff, really help my dodgy stomach. Much better than meds from the doc.

Live kefir company are these grains organic?

Not sure what you mean by organic. The grains grow naturally in milk. Is milk organic? Mine is whole milk delivered by a local farm. I think it’s pretty natural.

my instructions, just received, say to use milk, it doesn`t say to boil the milk first, as one does for yoghurt so use cold milk from the fridge?

Hi. I have been successfully making kefir for a while using unhomogenised Jersey milk from Tesco. I usually do a few batches before drinking, i.e. make but don't use,, then to let the grains settle, then start enjoying!

reading some of these reviews, does this mean that when once purchased some grains, never have to buy any more?

Technically you shouldn't have yo buy anymore. However sometimes it doesn't always work out. You may kill them off if you don't look after them or use metal utensils It can be trial and error to start with. They are a living thing. Make sure you read instructions. Temperature is important to the length of time you let it grow. Hope this helps
