There's no official process to determine what's ceremonial and what isn't, so you just have to take the company's word for it. And technically, in Japan there's no such thing as "ceremonial matcha". We only call it that overseas. The Japanese grade matcha on its taste, colour, texture, when it was harvested, how it was stored, among other things. Matcha that was prepared a certain way will be used for drinking (we call it ceremonial grade). While other leaves that were harvested, stored and prepared differently will have different flavour/texture profiles and are better used in baking and cooking because of their bitterness (we call it culinary grade). But it's still matcha. It's not "lower quality", its from the same leaves, just harvested at different times and in different ways which gives it different characteristics. Think of it like chicken. You have normal chicken and corn-fed chicken. Fed differently which gives them a slightly different end result, but it's still chicken. Sellers have taken advantage of the obsession over ceremonial grade. The Japanese will never ask if matcha is ceremonial. They will ask where it came from, how it was stored and when it was harvested, to determine whether it's drinking matcha or cooking matcha. As for this brand, I'd say it's drinking matcha aka "ceremonial". Our matcha is grown over 1500km away for the Fukushima disaster and was therefore not affected. This product is not organic. **Q: How can you make a matcha latte with this?** A: My favourite matcha latte to make is a coconut matcha latte and I so simple to make. All you need to your milk of choice( I prefer and highly recommend alpro soy coconut for professionals, this gives such a good foam and tastes amazing with no need to add sugar!) I then heat up water make sure it’s not boiling and whisk the hot water into a teaspoon of matcha (make sure to whisk until there’s no clumps or lumps . Then add the whisked matcha to a glass of your heated up milk of choice. Really easy and you can add sugar or sweetener of choice but I prefer it without. Makes a lovely iced matcha, I would recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m in love with Matcha. *by W***0 on 6 March 2020* I am very sensitive to caffeine as it makes me jittery, anxious and gives me heart palpitations. Although I find it hard to gain the necessary energy that I require for 12 hour shifts, which lead me to matcha and I decided to try it. This matcha not only tastes great, but its effects had me in a state of calm alertness for hours, l love it. While I say it tastes great, it also did not taste as vegetal as it was meant to be, but I like that nonetheless. The EGCG in matcha, which is a powerful antioxidant, is superior to that of normal green tea due to the pulverisation and harvesting process of the leaf, which gives it over 137 times more anti oxidants than lower grade green tea which is good for the immune system, clearing the body of free radicals, preventing oxidative stress and also aiding in weight loss. Matcha is also full of L-theanine, which is an amino acid which is able to cross the blood brain barrier. It activates “alpha waves”, in the brain which activates a state of calmness without drowsiness. This makes it great for remaining focused in stressful situations as well as getting a good night sleep. Not only that, I can feel the water weight pour off me while I don’t get that ‘dehydrated’ feeling that I get from coffee and tea. It feels wonderful and I recommend it to anybody if they would like to remain focused, relaxed or want to aid in better sleep. Be aware, I was confused by the picture of this product and thought that the Matcha came with the utensils such as the bamboo whisk and measuring spoon, but it does not. The tub is made of glass and is 50grams. Originally I read the instructions wrong and was having 1/2 tablespoon of matcha instead of 1/2 teaspoon! Although despite the large volume I never got anxious or jittery like I do with coffee which is amazing. The only downside I can say for this tea is that it came packaged rather messy with the powder outside and around the lid and beneath the tub.
