Young and Shelley Redmond Young and Acid Alkaline Food Guide: A Quick Reference to Foods and Their pH Levels by Susan Brown) which were presents for a close friend. There were cheaper pH strips available but I wanted some which were able to be used for testing saliva and urine - and would be accurate. The 0.25 and 0.5 increments within the scale aid accuracy. My friend did the tests and these strips appeared to work well and offer reassurance. As they were a gift I was disappointed that the box the strips came in had a sizeable faded dark print/scuff mark in one corner and the cardboard tucked flaps were a bit loose - not the crisp white box I had been expecting (no film outer). It looked like old stock even though within expiry date. I was disappointed it did not look new as it was a gift and a very personal item. I could have saved money buying as new items or other brands which were similar and felt a bit cheated in paying the extra without a good result. It arrived in the same package as the books and on time as I paid for faster delivery and this was the only niggle in an otherwise satisfactory transaction. Perhaps I was just over sensitive as it was a gift and I wanted it to be as perfect as possible. I am thinking of buying the same set for myself and as there are 100 in the box (rather than 60) may choose the same brand but will look for free delivery and look across the marketplace for the best deal from a supplier with a good history.
