Good value Sony sound for general portable media use.
Mainly used to listen to audio or watch video's & podcasts on the laptop. Build & Fit; Build quality is OK given the price - not sure how the folding mechanism would hold up to constant use but as I use mainly at home they will stay 'up' anyway. Being the non-Mic version these have have a flat cable with is quite sturdy and doesn't tangle - I would have preferred a single side type as i find I catch my hand in the 'v' of the cable every now and again, but given the price it's not unreasonable as it means not needing to route through the headband. The fit is great for me - normally on-ears I find slip around as I don't have a huge head (or much hair!), but these stay put and do so without using an excessive clamping so remain comfortable for long periods. That said my ears do start to get a bit warm after a while, but again, not to the point they become uncomfortably hot. A quick shout out to the colour - I wanted black but the blue were on offer so went with them and the colour is actually OK, not as garish as some of the product shots would have you believe. Sound; They have a usual Sony sound signature - bass heavy but offset with clear highs, and slightly scooped mids. The bass is not overpowering or muddy though and the highs are clear without being harsh or sibilant. Unless you are looking for a flat, neutral sound these work well with most media. Compared to my main over-ear Sony's these are definitely more 'coloured; but given the limitations of the source (laptop audio) they are very 'easy' to listen to and hold up surprisingly well given the vast price difference. Plugged into a more high end source the difference was more obvious but that's not really the job they are intended for. Negatives: No bag/case (to be expected at this price but do wonder how the folding mechanism will hold up chucked in a backpack. Angled jack - as others have noted, this does feel like the weak point of these cans. I make sure to pull the jack body itself and it's fine but if pulled on the cable entry it does fee like it will break sooner rather than later. Overall; Good value general use headphones with the usual pleasing Sony sound profile. At this price I'd say they are a solid buy.

Good headphones for a good price.
I bought these 3 years ago and they are still going strong, I am about to buy another pair in a different colour, just so I have a back up pair. They don't have noise cancelling but that is why I like them. They fit well, are comfortable and the quality of sound (I use them on PC) is excellent and on par with other headphones I have had over the years. I use the ones without the microphone so cannot comment on the quality of that. I have used them on my tablet when I went into hospital, and again the sound quality is very good, they are good for music, listening to YouTube videos and films. Very happy with these Sony MDR-ZX310 headphones.

Excellent
I've never really got along with in ear headphones but recently I've increasingly found myself in a position where headphones would have come in handy. I looked around and after a bit of consideration and looking at a few reviews I decided to spend a little more than I initially intended on these. They arrived quickly and I have to say that all in all I'm really impressed. They look fantastic, they're a great colour and look far more expensive than they actually are. Build quality seems very good too although they do feel a little plasticky but that's to be expected. I don't find any headphones particularly comfortable to be honest but these are the most comfortable set of headphones I've ever worn although they're also the most expensive I've ever bought despite still being fairly cheap. What I'm really impressed by though is the sound quality. The sound quality is excellent and far better than I had expected. Also really good is that even on a fairly high volume they don't disturb my partner so they appear to leak little to no sound at all. All in all very happy with them, 3/5 for comfort (although that's most likely just me), 4/5 for quality and 5/5 for looks and sound quality.

Excellent Sound Quality - HIghly Recommended
Very good sound as you would expect from Sony (particularly good bass). Using it for listening to music, You-Tube, and audio-books on my phone and sound is crystal clear. The headphones do not drown out outside sounds if the volume is low-to-medium, but that's only if the outside sound is fairly loud/fairly close-by, and I guess that would happen with most headphones around this price-range. I have an Android phone with no earphone jack, so I also bought a 'Headphone Earphone Adaptor USB Type C to 3.5mm Jack' from Amazon from 'La Brodee Store' for ÂŁ4.99. The headphone length of wire is about 1.14m (45 inches) from end tip of jack to the earphones, so ok for using with a phone or a Sony Walkman (remember those !), or a laptop/pc monitor, but probably not long enough for watching TV/gaming (you would need some kind of extended). I bought the blue colour headphones which look very smart. The head-band and ear-muffs are comfortable and has a good range of adjustment. Look carefully at the back of each head-set and you will see 'L' and 'R' marked to denote which ear-muff is for left and which is for right. The folding mechanism is good although as long as you treat with care and have good light. Volume is controlled from whichever device you are using and not the headphones themselves, and the headphones do not have a micro-phone. All-in-all really good value smart headphones with very good sound.

Back for more of the same
I bought this same set nearly nine-years ago. They put up with excessive noise abuse from me. It was only the other day when one of the earpieces went intermittent that I was forced to buy new ones. Because of the longevity of the original set I bought the same again. I COULD have found better, I'm sure. But for the price (only ÂŁ3 more than they were 9 years ago) I was always going to get these again. The sound quality is good but not stellar. I'm more than happy with these solid quality phones. Only gripe is the somewhat short cable, but I have an extension cable any case.

Good sound, great value
I thank the reviewers that highlighted the weak 3.5mm jack, some sockets require quite a bit of force to engage so I knew to be careful. Sound quality isn't bad at all, not muffled, the whole range is decent. If you have an equaliser they're capable of good sound - even without I'm satisfied with the quality. I read a review that the packaging was hard to open. It isn't, either Sony fixed it or maybe the review was for a different product. I got them on sale and am very happy. Just to add, the cable is the bare minimum length, 1.2m, I bought an Amazon Basics extension to use them with my computer. Altogether ÂŁ20. Very pleased.

Excellent value
For £12 these are exceptional value for money. Headphone from Sony at this price. Unbelievable. I just walked the dog over woodland and fields, even though it was very windy I didn’t hear it. I have always been an over ear headphone person, but wanted something I can plug into my phone and listen to a podcast or sports whilst walking the dog. These are more than I would have dreamt for. They are lightweight, a more than exceptional sound for something so cheap. As long as you don’t expect a £500 of headphone then these are going to please 90%+ of people for chilling or workouts. Cable is of good quality, pads are soft, headphones clamp nicely to the head and so light I didn’t notice they were on me. The blue colour looks beautiful. Connectivity is straight forward. Plug the 3.5 jack in, or if you device doesn’t have that (like my google phone) a cheap jack to usb c adapter works wonderfully. I have some half decent studio headphones, Bluetooth headphones, and in ear headphones. These are not cheap. So well done Sony in making a cheap pair that feel good and sound good. The folding mechanism means I can store them in a old headphone case I have and keep them in the boot for my walks.

Gold Style, Bronze Sound...
I bought these for a bargain at under ÂŁ12, although if I'd have paid ÂŁ20+ I would have been a little disappointed with the frequency response, mainly in the high mids and highs. I must admit, I'm accustomed to listening to music with expensive headphones, but needed a cheaper pair of foldable headphones (mainly for travel) to replace a pair of broken JVC Flats. For that purpose, they are a great buy, especially if you can get them under or around the ÂŁ15 mark, but if you're looking for clarity in music you'd be better looking elsewhere and increasing your budget a bit. Out of the pack, the low end response makes for plenty of bass for a 30mm driver unit, but that's at the expense of high mids and high frequencies. Notes that should cut through in mixes can get lost in the muddiness of the overall sound experience. Compared to the JVC Flats, the mid/high clarity is disappointing, although the bass response is far superior to the JVC's, so it depends on what you prefer and what you're willing to sacrifice frequency-wise. That said, the headphones are comfortable and fold up easily. The build quality is decent and the wire is short enough and easy to fold, with none of those annoying twists you can get with other headphones. Visually, the Sony MDRZX310's look great with the offset Sony logo on each side, and Left/Right markings are easy enough to spot in low light. I'd definitely say buy these, as long as you're not looking for audio gold, you won't be disappointed.
