Absolutely love it
This is my 2nd Actifry and I am so glad I decided to upgrade! I had the original 1kg version for about 6 years before it finally gave up. Considering I used it probably twice a week I really wasn't upset that it died as I feel I got fair use out of it. It is for that reason I was quite happy to pay the top end for a replacement. I can trust that I will get my monies worth. Chips take about 45 minutes which is fine with a bit of forward planning. Buy yourself a leaver action chip cutter as well, you won't regret it! I decided to opt for the 2-in-1 for a few reasons. Firstly the larger 1.5kg pan was a definite as even when cooking chips for 2 the bigger pan enables the potato to move about more and not get crushed by the rotating paddle. Secondly the idea of being able to cook something to accompany my chips in the same device really appealed to me. Thirdly my old Actifry kept cooking when the timer ran out whereas this one now turns off when the time is up, which is handy if you forget or just don't get there in time for whatever reason. The paddle has been redesigned from my original Actifry to be flat rather than a chunky hollow paddle where chip crumbs can gather inside. This makes cleaning a lot easier. Since getting this Actifry I have been determined to try it out for more than just potato based foods. Saturday morning was a fry up. 8 sausages in the bottom pan with a touch of oil (not form the measuring spoon) set the timer to 20 minutes and selected the 2 in 1 function to cook 6 bacon medallions for the last 8 minutes. It really worked well. I was amazed at how much fat was left behind by the sausages and how well they had cooked all over. The 8 minute timer for the bacon can be adjusted if you want but for me I used it as a cue to get the toast in, beans in the microwave and fry a quick egg or two. It made the breakfast routine a lot more straight forward as well as stopping that dreadfully messy fat spatter all over the hob! Tasted great! Best of all is then just popping everything in the dishwasher and forgetting about it. It is also worth mentioning that the house didn't smell of fry up for the rest of the morning either. You decide if that is a good or bad thing. With a bit of searching you can find videos and websites with all sorts of recipes. My next recipe to try is the teriyaki chicken form the included recipe book Although the Actifry says it will do 6 portions of chips I would say you would be better to think 4 servings. But then maybe I am a pig. But seriously I would say the top pan would do meat for 4 servings comfortably. 6 Adults would be a stretch. As others have mentioned the clearance isn't huge so things like large pieces of chicken will catch but chicken breasts, steaks and chops will be no problem. I can wholeheartedly recommend this Actifry to anyone looking to eat better or to simplify their kitchen. I already have to a friend who bought the original Actifry after my previous recommendation. If you are not looking to cook other foods at the same time as your chips then don't bother with the 2 in 1, save a few quid and consider the 1.5kg express.

Easy Cooking
The Tefal ActiFry 2 in 1 Fryer is an awesome must have kitchen gadget. Just bear in mind that there are only two adults that I cook for so I don't know if it would be sufficient for larger families. The more you get used to using it the more you realise what you can do with it. Don't think of it as a healthy chip fryer, it is that but it can do so much more. It does frozen chips/fries/curly fries equally well and also home made chips/fries etc. I've found that you don't really need any oil on frozen chips/fries and I've also found if you are cooking let's say chips in the bottom and onion rings on the top then leave the top plate out until it is time for the onion rings to go in, I find that if you don't the chips won't be as crispy as I like them to be. You're looking at about twenty minutes or so for thinner things like frozen fries and about thirty minutes for thicker chips. I hardly ever use the oven any more which takes an age to heat up and an age to cool down and also you're heating an area way bigger than you need for the food you're cooking. The fryer has quite a large footprint and isn't quiet but I'd say it's quieter than my fan assisted oven plus there is no heating up and cooling down period so I'd assume this will cost less on the electric bill. It is a breeze to clean - it truly is non stick and everything comes out or off with ease. This is one of those products that makes me wish I'd bought it years ago. You want sausage sandwiches? Frozen sausage on the top plate 15 minutes boom! No mess and far less smell than frying or grilling. Once you start experimenting you'll find plenty of ways to cook different foods, it's just a new way of cooking that is so easy. I wouldn't be without my Tefal 2 in 1 ActiFry. My No1 kitchen gadget
Absolutely over the moon with this, i love a cooking gadget but this is by far my best ever purchase... Pro’s: Simple and easy to use Has app/website support with lots more recipes, but to be honest I’ve ‘winged it’ on several occasions and cooked random cuts of meat or vegetables in the corresponding trays and they’ve come out lovely and crispy... Meat is juicy and crispy and potatoes are fluffy in the inside, crispy on the outside, carrots didn’t quite crisp up like when I cook them in my oven but parsnips came out lovely and crisp I’ve cooked fresh and frozen food in my actifry and they’ve all cooked thoroughly and crispy (you can tell I like crispy food right!)... Most parts easy to clean-the clear lid gets a wipe over and the trays lift out easily for washing (I’ve avoided putting them in my dishwasher though as I don’t want to ruin the non stick coating-but these are dishwasher safe) Time saving, good for busy families Cons: Clear lid can get very hot to touch, also ensure it’s used in a well ventilated area. The paddle for the bottom tray can get food dried in a sticks to it which needs soaking/scrubbing sometimes Hints/tips: I’ve added seasoning to my meat & vegetables and they’ve come out flavourful so this hasn’t compromised the cooking Instead of a spoon of oil Ive sprayed oil from a pump bottle over my food which works just as well. I would like to try cooking sauce based dishes and sweet dishes in my actifry next.

Awesome chips and roast potatoes.
Oven chips taste more like normal chips, and real chips taste brilliant. The top tray is great for burgers, dippers, goujons, etc. A tip for chips and roast potatoes, cut the blade down a bit at the tip. I have an old one for this purpose. Also use lard instead of oil. Melt it for 2 minutes first, then add your chips or spuds to it and stir with a silicone spatula until all are covered. They will cook deliciously without any burning. If you use oil the oil passes its smoke point and the food goes a bit black which is not so tasty. Lard has a higher smoke point. The trick is working out how much lard to use. You need just enough to coat the food, so there is none flowing around in the bottom. If after 15 minutes you look and see excess, then mop it up with some kitchen towel so there are no pools. Trial and error. I'm not bothered about the healthy aspect, I just wanted an easy and cleaner way to cook roast potatoes and chips. And anyway, burned oil is probably worse for you than a bit of pork fat!

Simple to use
Whilst we have only used the Actifry a few times we have noticed that there is no heavy smell or steam that you would get from a normal chip pan, that alone must be a bonus in the kitchen. It does have a large footprint on the worktop so you might want to store it in another area out of the way if you are short of space. Overall length of detachable power cord is 40 inches. One criticism I have is that the measuring spoon is not very well marked when you need to measure out 1/5, 1/3, 1/2 and 3/4 of a spoonful. It's very easy to clean and over time you will get no build up of oil like you get with a chip basket. Detachable items can go in a dishwasher. Whilst the cooking time suggested for cooking chips might seem longer than a normal chip fryer they do come out nicely cooked. We did buy a chipper unit which gave the accuracy for sizing the chips (as recommended in the user manual) evenly and speedily. We have done steak and chips in the Actifry and it has come out very well, but you do have the facility to vary cooking times to suit your requirements. From now on it is just a case of experimenting with recipes and see how we get on but up to now things are going well with this product. We did buy the Actifry at a very reduced price which had a large influence to buy this model as opposed to others in the range.

Worth buying
Decided on this fryer after reading reviews and have not been disappointed. I have done fresh potatoes chipped and cut into chunks as mini roasties and they have turned out well though don’t expect them to be like they had been cooked in deep fat. They are much dryer and healthier than dripping in oil and taste just as good. What I have found is when using for the first few times the times given as a guide have tended to over cook especially with frozen chips so after about 20 mins I then add minutes to get to how I want them to be. Them first time I did frozen chips and used the times given they were very over done. Have done salmon fillets using the 2 in 1 method and it was cooked beautifully. The fan is a bit noisy but is a small price to pay to cook chips etc and not have to keep an eye on what’s going on. Even my husband is impressed with it as he thought it was just another kitchen gadget that would be stored away. Would definitely recommend..

Excellent
Have waited ages to buy, kept looking then putting it off but yesterday ordered at last! So glad I did... Arrived this morning...Easy to use, worked it all out then had a go, just a few home made chips at lunch, the best chips ever! Then for evening meal, pork chops, quite thick with potato wedges and apple... Wow the meat was cooked to perfection, tender and moist, wedges great and the apple just added a little something. I will continue to try different meals etc but I know that I will use this product all the time as the quality and taste of what I cooked today was lovely... Expensive yes but I do believe it will be worth it One tiny niggle the sound of the alarm when it has finished cooking is not loud enough if you are in another room, but hey ho I will just use another louder timer Highly recommend, for the quality, taste and health benefits

Excellent product and well worth the money
Excellent product. For me as a single person with a busy lifestyle, it is perfect. Easy to use and able to cook a variety of ingredient at the same time. I set the timer going and get ready while it is doing all the work without worrying about watching over the food incase it sticks, burn or needs stirring. Plus easy to wash up. I eat more healthily than before and use the microwave less. Thank you very much Good for up to 3 people at a push. Would need to limit variety for a family of four. For example I can cook sausages, bacon eggs and tomatoes at the same time for two people but you would possible need to stick to scrambled eggs and sausages or bacon if cooking for more. Still, a great product and can be use as an additional cooking aid not just an all in one.
