My gas hob has a worrying design fault whereby pans, if not positioned perfectly in the centre, tend to tip over and spill their hot contents over the hob - and sometimes me. A particular problem with pans that have a large, heavy handle. I recently stayed in an apartment in Italy where they had a gadget similar to this one, for standing moka pots on. So I bought this. It’s perfect for moka pots and has stopped the issue with toppling pans. The fact that it’s aluminium is a positive: it’s light, won’t rust and conducts heat faster than steel. Inevitably it has turned white due to oxidation - but to me that’s not an issue. I like the aesthetic of worn, used things. And it’s a great price.

This fits perfectly on my hob and my Bialetti sits solidly on the ring without any danger of toppling over. I use it on a medium flame and haven’t experienced any of the problems that other reviewers have suffered from, such as it warping or glowing red hot. It also hasn’t rusted, but that is probably because I have only had need to wash it once. I admit that it has discoloured around the edges, but this has not affected it’s use. I have given it 4* because the finish is a bit rough and because of the discolouration. If I was to replace it, I would chose a cast iron ring reducer; they look so much nicer, but are around 4x the price. There is definitely a hole in the market there ! In the meantime, this does the job perfectly well, and I would recommend it.

Perfect fit on the cooker for our Bialetti coffee pot. Throughly recommend this gas ring reducer.

Works as it should but all the underneath edges are very sharp and that makes it not the best when using it. Even cleaning it is a bit of a hazard. Could be better.

The first one of these I bought was years ago when we stayed in a caravan and the little gas hob would not let me use small pans. The daft thing was the hob was very small you could not put two big pans on it next to each other. When we got home I gave it to a Caravanner friend of mine as I had an electric cooker. The second one I bought for my mother when she got a new gas cooker. One day my daughter found it and threw it away as it was old and stained. When my new mini wok arrived I could not find the little ring and the mini wok falls over anyway when it is empty. Without the little ring the wok was too near the gas jet. So I bought a third. This one is old looking now. Just ordered a new Bialetti expresso maker and the Bialetto milk frother which of course need to be on the cooker at the same time so I had to buy a new little ring so both can be on the hob. The new one is silver coloured and shiny. Be interesting to watch it age and change colour. If you buy one just make sure everyone in your house is aware of what it is or it will go walkies. What the description does not say is that the metal ring has edges which are folded over and temporarily "hold on" to the wires on your cooker so it does not slide about. An excellent product - just wish it did not change colour as time goes on.

It's a little heavy and thick. I thought it would be difficult for the flames to heat thru it. But it's fine. It doesn't slide off the cooktop grate.

It serves it purpose. Used it to hold a small sauce pan it worked perfectly . Before I could not use it in the gas stove because it was too small and was not stable. Have not had it for long but so far so good.
