Ever tested or used one of these?

Yes the last one I had was used by the fire brigade to take out my car windows before they removed my cars roof - they also used it to cut the seat belts .. one bang and the window was gone ... would you like a Vauxhall zafera cabrolet?

It says it can be mounted to the floor of your vehicle - how does that work? is it easy to install?

In the event of you being in an accident with enough force to stop the front doors opening or lock the seatbelts. The driver will most probably be unable to reach the vehicle floor. The tool should be mounted where you can reach while you are restrained by your seatbelt. Sit in your car with your seatbelt on and see where you can reach to without pulling more seatbelt out.

Is the hammer spring loaded

Hi Catherine Evans, It doesn't appear that this hammer is spring loaded. Kind regards, Kerrie MyMemory

Could this be used in a house for breaking a double glazed unit ?

Not sure, however, it would be twice as hard to complete the task
