Cappuccino Time!!
For some reason I considered reviewing this item from its arrival in my post .. and I'm glad I took the time so I could share my findings .. I've given it an all round 5 star rating! .. because .. its easy to use, easy to clean, light yet robust.. and above all - effortless does what you buy it for QUALITY FROTH! It could be a new learning on my part .. but I've never frothed COLD milk before .. so those like me who did not realise, if you don't mind your froth chilly .. then I found you get maximum density this way (images are with COLD milk). I did of course try the hot milk pathway .. results; fairly rubbish with Skimmed Milk, and I found with Semi-Skimmed it watered my coffee - which, as you can image is squirmish to taste .. On the coffee side - found making my coffee a tad stronger than usual created the right balance. Price was very good when I bought it .. so no brainer, even if like me - you've got umpteen choices of the same thing :)) UPDATE .. I've just frothed cold SKIMMED milk - WOW!! so this contradicts what happens with skimmed hot milk. So this Frother is suitable for any cow based milk .. cannot vouch for plant based milk - as yet! Hope this helps .. Cappuccino

Great results if you don't mind putting the work in
I bought this product on the strength of jacobjacobi's review which suggested a great method for making thick foamed milk, which turns out far better foamed milk than any I've made with a steam wand. However, this isn't a foolproof product - you have to work with it to learn how to produce good results. On my first try I pumped 90 strokes, which didn't produce the volume I expected. Subsequently, I have kept pumping away until the milk has doubled in volume before putting the jug in the microwave. It needs a vigorous pumping action, keeping the filter within the milk. I place my other hand on the top of the jug and push down firmly to stop the jug sliding around on the worktop. Therefore, this product is probably unsuitable for anyone who doesn't have reasonable strength and movement in both arms and hands. Also be prepared to experiment when heating the foamed milk in the microwave to find the right time. My first attempt was too cold and my second boiled over. About 70 seconds at full power is about right for my microwave. Using the Latteo with a Bialetti Moka Express, I find that if I put the coffee on first, I have plenty of time to measure in my milk, froth it and heat it before the espresso is ready. In summary, the Latteo is capable of producing excellent quality foamed milk for anyone who is prepared to put in the work to learn how to get the best from it. In my opinion, this product is a tad overpriced for what it is (it's possible to buy a 1 litre cafetiere for less) but on balance I would still recommend it.

Unfortunately they break really easily in a family home...
This is the best milk frother we have owned, very convenient to use in the microwave. The only issue is that they break really easily so after our 4th unit got smashed we went for a stainless steel one from another manufacture that is used on the hob. They just don't survive family life unfortunately... if you are a couple, or single, living in a minimalist life style the great. Wash by hand as easily cracked in a dish washer when loaded in a full machine. Don't bother keeping the lid 'just in case' when the jug breaks... just bin it, it never finds a use. I am sure I still have one somewhere.... enjoy the coffee.

Best Cappuccino Ever!
...and that was made by me!! This is an amazing gadget and I'm so glad I bought it. It sat around for weeks before I decided to actually keep it and finally used it. Now, I prefer to stay in and have a home made cap instead of a £3 down the shop one! Honestly - it's so easy. The item is short on instructions, but I chose a big cup (shown, to give idea of volume). I put milk in the jug just to the line and heated microwave for just 2 mins before it started to boil. I put decaf coffee in cup and added about an inch of hot water and sweetener. Then I put the plunger in the milk and plunged with gusto. It will have a tendency to splutter a bit so be careful. I kept my thumb on the lid and it got very hot. After a minute or two, I poured some into the cup, it was like thick milk, and kept the rest in the frothier and gave it some real welly - much easier now it was half empty. After another minute or two of a sound thrashing, this now looked like the puckka stuff and I poured it over the coffee. I had a bit left and noted to use less milk next time. The photos here are the second cup I made the next day. I let it boil unfortunately and so I'm not sure it went as well, but you can still see how thick the foam gets. I really love this and would thoroughly recommend. Next I'm going to get the stencils!

IT REALLY WORKS!!!
Bodum 1446 Latteo Milk Frother The Espresso machine I recently bought makes fantastic coffee but I simply cannot get the milk frother/steamer arm to produce lovely true cappuchino froth- tried every method known ,even invented some of my own-no joy.So when I saw this product and read what everyone else said .... thick foam, fantastically easy, magic etc I was still a bit sceptical. I bought this frother anyway and as soon as it arrived made my espresso and put it to the test. To say I am impressed doesn't do this fantastically magical little gizmo justice. I looked at the amount of milk that is recommended and thought, how can what looks like a simple cafetaire turn this into thick spoonable long lasting foam?. The gizmo was placed on its dinky little cork base and I pumped the plunger 60 times the results were some sort of miracle the almost tripled in volume milk was put in the microwave for just under a minute on full and the finished "froth" ( froth is the totally wrong word as it implies something light and flimsy) was a thick, sweet, almost meringue looking cloud of sheer loveliness that didnt vanish after the 1st sip or sunk under the weight of a few chocolate sprinkles. I can now enjoy cappuchinos that I would normally have had to buy in a high street coffee house. I am aware that the glass is meant to be fragile and can break just by looking at it but I washed it up as gently as I would bath a baby and it now lives in its own litle cupboard away from anything which could cause it harm, should this fanastic little gizmo shatter then so would my heart.

Amazing, but the instructions need to be better.
I bought this about 6 months ago and have found it to be quite good, until a few days ago, when I discovered that it could make the PERFECT froth. A lot of people recommend that you warm the milk for a while in the microwave and then froth. But to make this work so as to form milk that is as thick as beaten egg whites, do the following: 1: Use semi-skimmed milk straight from the fridge. 2: Beat the milk vigorously, making sure that you pump only in the bottom 2 inches of the milk (if you come out of the milk with each stroke, it doesn't work). 3: Keep pumping until it starts to get thick (if you are vigorous, this will take about 30 seconds). 4: Pop it into the microwave at full power (800 watts in my case) for 50 seconds. This seems to almost set the milk and it is even thicker when it comes out. 5: You now have egg white milk. Awesome. PS: I have a good quality milkshake mix for the kids that we give them on occasion and this thing makes brilliantly thick milkshakes without the addition of ice cream.

Good frother but fragile glass and loose fitting lid
Effective and simple to use and clean but the lid is loose fitting and the glass is very thin and seems very fragile.

Frothy milk on demand
Bought to replace an electric milk frother that stopped working. This is a little more trouble than the electric version as you have to heat the milk in the microwave but it’s unlikely to stop working. A good buy.
