Yum Asia 304 Stainless Steel Rice Washing Bowl (22cm) with Silicone Base and Handle

I bought this after owning a Yum Asia rice cooker for a few years and having my eye on it for a while. At first my partner wasn’t convinced it was necessary and I took a bit of slack for buying it, but that changed very quickly once she actually used it. The design is really well thought out. The non-slip silicone base keeps it steady while rinsing, and it makes washing rice easy without losing any grains.The stainless steel feels high quality and well finished, and it’s very easy to clean after use. The handle is comfortable and the whole bowl just feels solid and nicely made. It’s one of those simple tools that doesn’t seem essential until you try it.For the price, the value for money is very good considering the quality and how often it gets used. A genuinely useful kitchen accessory if you cook rice regularly.

So I bought a rice cooker and thought I might as well go the whole hog and get myself a rice washing bowl to go with it.This looks like great design. You pull in your rice and then top up with water which you can either swirl the whole bowl or put your hand in and swoosh around. Clever texturing at the on the bottom of the bowl gently agitates the rice to make sure every grain gets rinsed.But when you come to tip and drain the water, a major design flaw kicks in. The drainage holes are just big enough to allow the tips of the grains of rice to stick in them. You have to run your hand over the outside of the bowl - which feels like massaging a hedgehog - to gently push to rice back through the holes. This happens every time you tip to drain and you need to do this at least three times to get the water running clear of starch.You might think this would be an easy problem to fix by making the holes slightly smaller but then maybe the water would take frustratingly long to drain. The problem probably only affects long grain rice and would not affect stubbier grains such as arborio or sushi rice.Despite the obvious design flaw I still enjoy using mine. Of course it's just as good for washing other fruits and vegetables so doesn't just come out of the cupboard for rice.The bowl looks good and had a silicon non-slip base to keep it steady on your worktop. Cleaning is easy with just a quick rinse required. It is dishwasher safe but it's no trouble at all to handwash.Love mine but I had to take off one star just for the rice sticking in the drainage holes.

Never knew how elite a proper rice washing bowl would feel over a sieve. Really satisfying to use, great grip on the base, easy to pour and re-fill. If you eat rice often (or if you don’t but have the space) I would recommend the purchase!

Super speedy delivery, well-packaged. Absolutely perfect for its function - I love the drainage, I love the silicon on the base for stability and the stainless steel is exactly what I'm looking for. A couple of grains of jasmine rice do sometimes stick in the holes when rinsing, but it's perfectly easy to just poke them back in. I've recommended them to everyone I know who's sick of having to use a sieve and a bowl to check that their rice or lentil water is running clear! It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it for the functionality, the stainless steel bowl, and the speedy delivery.

Ich hatte mich endlich durchringen können, einen Reiswäscher zu kaufen und zum Glück fiel meine Wahl fiel auf dieses Produkt.Der Wäscher lässt sich supergut handhaben, er rutscht nicht, lässt sich gut schräg stellen. Der Griff ist gut durchdacht, auch für große Mengen gut zu halten.Der Wäscher ist recht leicht, ich glaube jedoch, dass es kein Nachteil ist.Ich hatte Bedenken wegen der Größe, für einen kleinen Haushalt ist das Ding viel zu groß, dache ich. Nein, das ist er nicht. Da das Gefäß ebenso zum Einweichen von z. B. Kichererbsen gedacht ist, brauchst du da dann einfach mehr Platz. Außerdem stört es keineswegs, wenn du nur 50 gr Reis, Linsen oder sonstwas wäschst. Man spült alles sehr komfortabel.

Molto utile per lavare riso, frutta ecc. Materiale molto resistente, fatto bene. L' impugnatura di gomma ti permette di scolare il tutto con estrema facilità.
