HOUNDSBAY Shoe Stretcher Women & Men, Adjustable 2-Way Shoe Expander

I rarely write reviews, but am making an exception because this Shoe Stretcher from HOUNDSBAY, did what never happens… it exceeded my expectations. I can’t even recall when I received something which turned out to be better than anticipated. The HOUNDSBAY shoe stretcher isn’t cheap at $72, but it IS a heavy-duty piece of gear. Solid and heavy. Not at all like the typical plastic and wood stretchers, such as one I’ve owned many years. Also, it has the ability to stretch the LENGTH of a shoe. Obviously, no shoe stretcher is going to be able to solve every issue, nor will it make a size 9 into a 10.5, but this stretcher will do the job better than any other one I’ve seen or used. Even the removable pieces to enable targeted stretching (for bunions etc.) are solid metal, not plastic. As I’ve aged, my feet have flattened, and I have a bunion issue, so want to enlarge, where possible, shoes which are still good, but too snug. That’s what this stretcher is made to do. In using it, you have to work a little to get it in place, due to the wood piece which stretches length. Placing it in a pair of loafers, required pushing down on the side of the shoe. In the instructions, they note this, and suggest getting a smaller size stretcher if you are close or between sizes. I went with Medium, and would not have been able to fit a larger one into my loafers. Sure, I would have preferred it cost $50 or so to $72, but frankly, I would rather pay a bit more and get something of truly high quality like this one, than spend $20 less for one of lesser quality. The HOUNDSBAY stretcher is a one time purchase, and short of losing it, will last you decades. Here’s hoping I last as long…. IF you are vacillating over spending this much for a stretcher, if it lets you wear a couple pairs of good quality shoes more comfortably, you’ve near paid for it already. Since you can return it IF it isn’t to your liking, what do you have to lose.

I have a wide foot with high instep and a bunion, so I have a lot of trouble finding shoes that fit. This stretcher really works for me. After having no luck having my shoes stretched at the shoe shop, I've adjusted 3 pairs of AE shoes with it and love it. It's like having a cobbler in the house. Now I see why taking shoes to be stretched at the shop doesn't work so well. The stretch has to be applied fairly precisely where the shoe pinches and hurts. With this I can move the buttons around to the exact spots that hurt and get that little extra room that I need. With a little heat, patience and persistence I get shoes that are comfortable. This stretcher is absolutely solid and well made and the fit and finish is excellent. I can't imagine it ever breaking. Yes, the extra buttons have come in handy. No, having only one stretcher hasn't been an issue. I don't know about the plastic stretchers, but I went for the wood in case I had to add a hole. I went with the best and am happy I did. It's a pleasure to use and now my shoes fit! One tip I'll pass on is heat helps the leather stretch. A blow dryer or setting the shoe next to the heater while it's stretching works great. I will not remember the extra $20 I spent on this, but every time I wear my comfortable shoes I'm happy.

Real deal product

I have used the stretcher on one pair of shoes with good results. I'm not sure whether the effect will be permanent as I just finished using it a few days ago. The stretcher is solidly built and trouble free. My only suggestion is that the manufacturer include an instruction sheet in the box (using stretching fluid or not, how long to leave shoe on stretcher, etc.). My stretcher arrived in good condition in a very nice box but without and instructions for use. I had to look this up on the internet and print my own instructions.

Well built and works!

I have six pair of high-quality loafers that I stopped wearing because of a small bunion on my right foot. I have previously purchased various shoe stretchers, both plastic and wood, and had almost given up as none seemed to work. I purchased Foot Fitter about three days ago and have already stretched and enjoyed wearing my comfortable loafers. The Foot Fitter is perfect, sturdy and easy to use. There are so many options to stretch any part of your shoe. One of my best purchases.

T-handle came loose after first use. This is a major design flaw as the torque required comes from a handle that appears to be merely glued to the spindle.

This shoe stretcher is excellent! I've been using it on all my shoes that feels a bit snug, and it opens up the toe area, making all the shoes that much more comfortable. Easy to use, works very well! Great quality.

I keep these in my outdoor cycling shoes to give me a little bit of extra room in them when riding. The shoes are tight by design and I have slightly wider feet than they're designed for (they're the widest that product line makes) so that little bit of stretch makes it all good. Being wood and metal with the "place-able" buttons allows customizing where the most stretch pressure is applied, and extra buttons can be purchased too. Brilliant!

Would prefer two products for the price as stretching one shoe at a time is a pain
