Not sand
This is a great looking bright white substrate. It is fine crushed coral or some type of rock like limestone. It will temporarily float and clump but after a week will look great. It will not permeate like sand. Anymore than .4" or 1 cm will cap anything you have under it permanently. It will NOT work as a deep sand substrate for planted Father Fish style tanks since nothing can get in or out of the top layer. Perfect for small to medium tanks with mechanical filtration. It is a fair market price. If you lack water hardness, buffer and calcium this is a good pick. It will not kill your snails or fish as others have claimed. That was something that was already going to happen or something you did wrong if it does๐

Multi functional sand. Great stuff
Amazing and versatile for aquarium and I used this as well for leveling out my front yard. This stuff is really white and multi functional.

Nice looking aquarium sand!
Itโs pearly white but doesnโt really have an artificial appearance. I was looking for a bright white sand to mimic the sands at the bottom of rivers in tropical freshwater environments. So this sand was perfect. I have it in a cube aquarium with lots of carpeting plants and driftwood, which tone down the brightness. If youโre looking for something more like beach sand (beige/tan color), you might want to pass on this one and look for something else.

Works Well
I was nervous about buying this sand because I had only ever used gravel before for fishtanks but this sand worked well. The size of the granules is pretty large. I used an old t-shirt to wash the sand and strain the finest particles before putting it in the tank. There were still some bits that floated at the top at first, but by the end of the day they had either sank to the bottom or I skimmed off most of it with a paper towel. The color is very pretty, and I like the look of it in the tank.

New Favorite Substrate - No Cleaning Needed
I used to exclusively buy Seachem Flourite Black Clay Gravel which is 15 lbs for $35. I would have to clean and clean but wanted to do a white sand tank and that's how i came across this. For $25 and you get 20 lbs, no cleaning needed! I was ecstatic. I opened my first bag and started to rinse it and realized its crystal clear. I was like NOOO WAY. So much time saved. I went and dumped all (5) 20 lb bags into my 75 gallon tank that i was setting up. Clear with no issues. The only minor thing is that this sand is great at catching air bubbles. Some of it may clump up but honestly, that will likely sort itself out over time. This is my new favorite substrate. Very happy with the product.

Good sand
I used this as a cap for my 75 gal fish tank. It didn't cloud the water or anything. Works well.

For starters i rinsed it in hot water for about 10 mins, then for about 15-20 i rinsed it in cold water. I dumped it in with some old sand and rocks i had, and i really love the look. It has almost a pearl shimmer too it and itโs beautiful! Iโll update photos as it settles (in this photo itโs been an hour) Updated photo is after 12 hours
