The material is water proof and quite thick so should stand the test of the snow. We have already had our first snow fall and subsequent melt and the cover still appears to be in good condition with no signs of leakage into the housing area. I like that there is a zipper on it, so if my daughter wishes to play in it on a nice day, then she can still access it easily.
