I have found my "forever floss"
Great alternative to synthetics. It does break once during each flossing session but a small price to pay, and it only happens on my teeth that are really close together. If your teeth aren't crowded like mine, you likely won't have a problem.

Dental Lace Dental Floss meets my expectations
After reading favorable reviews from previous purchasers about environmentally friendly Dental Lace Dental Floss, I bought this item. It is just as the reviewers described. The Mint flavor is pleasant and not overwhelming. It works as well as any other dental floss. I do find that it sometimes breaks when going between tight spaces in back of my mouth, but that is not a deal breaker. The breaking in tight spots doesn't happen often and may be due to my rushing and not being careful with flossing technique. I feel that this was a quality purchase. It is helpful in reducing my plastic impact, because I can recycle the little plastic bag the refill comes in at my Grocery store dropoff and can recycle all the other items in regular recycling.

Shreds very easily but hooray non plastic!
My latest reorder was even more prone to shredding than my original order and left both me and my husband with strands wedged between teeth we could not remove without ordinary gloss. I can't recommend at all. Sad about this, since we go through way too many little plastic floss packets in my house. I was hoping to replace with a more sustainable option, but this floss is not strong enough for my tight interdental contact points and tore 3-4 times per flossing session so I wasted a lot. If you have easier gaps you might like the slight natural roughness of this floss for effective cleaning. Give this non-plastic option a fair try if you don't need tensile strength to get between tight teeth.

Love it!
It works really well, and I love the minty flavor. My only gripe is that my teeth are tight so when I go to floss my back molars the floss is prone to breaking and getting stuck. Not the end of the world. Will continue to buy

Dental Lace cleans better than any other floss I've used but it does break easily
Dental Lace floss clearly does a more effective job than standard floss at cleaning around and on the gums. There are some aspects that make using it a little different. Here are pros and cons based on my experience using Dental Lace for about a month. CONS * More susceptible to breakage even when one is careful to avoid it. * I have found I need use up to twice as much as traditional floss - often one strand for the top teeth and another for the bottom because it almost always breaks if I try to use one strand only. * The reusable glass container with the metal top is a nice idea, but the cut point is very difficult to use. It’s hard to get the floss into the break slot - takes several tries where I hold the floss against the top and pull. I even tried to widen it but that made it worse. * Cost PROS * Reusable container is pro-environment. * No PTFE or PFAs (Google for more about this). * MOST IMPORTANT: Allows one to clean around gums much more effectively than traditional floss to remove bacteria. This is the game changer for me because most standard flosses are too slick to do this. I may start alternating with other flosses because I don’t always have the extra time needed to maximize the benefits of Dental Lace. But I will keep it as a part of my routine throughout the week.

#1 favorite floss!
I am super happy with this dental floss! I first heard about it while listening to an audio book that talked about ways to limit how much trash/waste you create in everyday life. I love that the floss itself is compostable, the cellulose packaging the refills come in are compostable, and other than that there’s just the tiny cardboard packaging that the reusable glass bottle came in. I am blown away by how simple and sustainably this product is designed. I wish there were more products like this out there! The glass bottle is durable and super cute! I keep it out on my bathroom counter on display. The floss itself isn’t super strong tasting of mint, which wasn’t super important to me. In terms of how strong the floss is, I have a few things to say: 1. This isn’t made of plastic so it will perform differently than what many of us were used to. That being said, if you are careful and strategic with it, it will work fine. 2. In general flossing recommendations, it’s commonly suggested that you not use the same section of floss on more than tooth. This prevents bacteria and plaque being transferred from one area to another. With “regular” plastic floss, in my experience it’s easy to be lazy and disregard that advice. With this floss, it never rips on the first pass between a tooth, but if you try to use that same spot of floss on another tooth you might notice it start to fray depending on how close together your teeth are. Which brings me to 3: 3. If you are gentle and intentional with how you floss, it works well and it kind of forces you to follow general flossing guidelines. That’s a plus to me! 4. My bottom teeth are pretty close together, but it never frays on me. 5. I am able to use the same amount of this floss as I was with conventional plastic floss, sometimes even less! I would guess that there are people out there who would not like that this floss is a bit more delicate compared to the plastic kind, but it’s so much better for the environment, and it keeps plastic particles out of our mouth. That is a win-win to me, and absolutely worth adjusting my flossing routine for (for instance, now I place my used floss in my indoor compost bin instead of the trash).

+ for ecological concern; --- for durability
I bought this because of the ecological benefits - lack of plastic, reusable container, etc. Unfortunately my teeth shred this floss like it’s made of wet noodles. From other reviews I see some others don’t have this problem so I have to conclude that my teeth are pretty tightly spaced [or just really sharp ;) ]. I haven’t had this issue with other flosses so I’d have to say that if your teeth are also tightly spaced this might not be the best option for you. I started using a plastic dental floss-pick that we bought years ago for my son when he had braces and one of those lasted me about four months! I have to wonder what the overall resource consumption would be between this floss and one of those disposable floss picks given their durability. And why isn’t ALL floss made to last that long? I think we know the answer to that.
