Have not had to use it through any emergencies yet, but have had time to run it through the break-in period and have tested to make sure it powers everything I need it to The unit came packaged very well, inside a crate, on a pallet with a strap for easy lifting with my hoist in my shop. Inside the crate, the unit was fully assembled. The battery was charged and only needed one cable hooked up. They included a bottle oil containing the exact amount needed for the engine. The instruction booklet is quite concise, straightforward, in good English that is easy to understand. The owner's manual tells you everything you'll need to know - how to break the motor in, the proper way to do it and what not to do. It has a list of all replacement parts you might need, including wear items like oil filters and plugs. It also includes info like how to adjust the valves and when to do it. It's well built, it powers everything I need it to power, well-priced and a far superior option to something like a kohler or a generac (to me). Can't speak for longevity yet, but so far so good.

Just now unpacked it and assembled it. It will not start. Followed all procedures. Double and triple checked. Put the battery charger on it and waiting a couple of hours to try again as per the person I called at Westinghouse. We will see what happens. Maybe that will work but I have my doubts. I was told to register my generator before calleing back and the registration required this review. I would perfer to wait to see how it turns out before I write this review but I have no choice. It it ends up starting I will give more stars if possible Update: I found the problem. The ground wire was not connected to the battery. That'll do it every time. After connecting it started right up. For about four starts it ran for a few seconds and them shut off. After that it starts and continues to run. I have not yet run it and used it for an extended time. Probably will not until we have a power outage. If it works okay then I will upgrade to 5 stars. Update 12/9/25: I finally have a 50 amp outlet wired so that I can connect the generator to back feed current into the house from the generator. The generator is starting great now. I used it to power the house and everything worked great. Did not turn on the heat pump as I heat with wood. I ran some hot water to make the well pump and the water heater come while many lights and the TV were on. Worked great. I'm actually hoping for a power outage to really get the benefits of finally having a whole house generator. One thing that did happen was that two flanged nuts fell off from underneath. The vibration while running allowed them to back off. I reinstalled them while adding two lock washers. That should take care of it. Not a big deal, just keep and eye out for it. So far, I'm happy with my Westinghouse generator. Therefore I have upgraded to 5 stars.

Suggestions to shipper: manufacturer and Westinghouse: We just went through a Category 5 Hurricane in SW Florida (9/27/22) and I had a smaller generator that got us through that crisis. But, I decided to upgrade with a Westinghouse Product and a much larger unit for preventaive maintenance and future storms. Some other owner (of the same unit) named it "the beast" and this WGen12000DFc unit is truly a beast. It arrived at my home undamaged; strapped to a pallet with adequate blockage and it was sitting on top of another pallet ---merely for handling puroposes. The shipper moved it into my garage (as directed) and left it sitting on both pallets. I rebuild cars, so I'm savy about mechanics and how to move things---but this is 400+++ #; I'm 89 and the instructions say: install the lifting handle and get two men to move it. Stupid rule #1 in the instructions. The unit was high enough off the floor, that I could remove some of the blockage and install the wheels without tilting (as directed) . I checked for loose wires, and there were none visable (more on that later). So I installed the wheels; removed all the blockage on that end; built a ramp and rolled it off of the two pallets into position. Added the oil and installed the trickle charger. Meanwhile, I built another ramp to level the unit on my sloping driveway, and also built a fixture to hold two tanks of propane . I also made a fixture to use for breaking in the unit just using one tank of propane. So all was set. I moved it outside, positioned it to be level on my ramp for a break-in-run; followed the start up instruction; pressed the button and nothing happend. Checked for loose wires and found the "black lead" to the battery was wrapped around another wire and jammed into the battery terminal area. It gave every appearance (and feeling) of being insatalled when I initially inspected the unit upon arrival. So now, I had to jack up the unit off my outside ramp; remove the wheel; remove the battery to get at the battery leads ( the battery is a shoe-horn fit and is torqued beyone belief with metric nuts and bolts.) Now I had power, but the battery was low on volts and had to be recharged. My use of the trickle charger (mentioned previously) was ineffective because of the unconnected battery lead. I put everything back together and after a few hits and misses it started to run. My recommendations are listed below to Westinghouse; the manufacturers (that they use elsewhere) and future owners that purchase a new unit: Westinghouse and your manufacturing team (overseas): 1) Clean up your Owners manual to flag the things that I mentioned in this message: Any loose wires (when the unit is shipped) should be flagged with visable tape so the owner does not go through what I went through;. Also, there is no pull chord to use as described in the manual 2) Stupid Rule #2: There is no way in hell, that the average ( two men) can do a deadlift of this beast at 400 #+++ at the height that it is blocked sitting on one pallet let alone two pallets. But, if the blockage ( on the pallet that is used to ship this thing ) were several inches higher, the wheels could be installed without tilting anything (as described in the manual) and with a few 2"X 4" it could easily roll off the shipping pallet {or others) into position once all the blockage is removed and clear. I do not have any immediate help (or an engine puller) anymore, so I look for simple ways to do things alone. 3) I'm still running it in a "breaking in mode", and the house has already been wired with a transfer switch. I have yet to see how much it will power everything, but it is a remarkable unit once assembled and running. Owners: check check and double check. Many things mentioned (in the owner's manual) can be simplified with a little common sense D.E. Penrod P.E.

Very Sturdy Generator. Good Quality, a little bit heavy. Needs to be used outdoors, CO2 sensor is very sensitive. If used in a confined space with not much air flow, the generator will shut off. Very pleased with this generator ( WGen14500DFc)

Runs everything in the house and then some!! I did have a problem with carburetor float stuck and had to switch it to propane so that was a great to have the duel fuel option.

This is a beast. Solid and heavy. Haven’t had a chance to use it but it seems to be very well constructed.

I bought this and a 4 year protection plan. This 400 lb. item arrived on 6/5/2025. I read the manuals, filled out all necessary paperwork, and prepared to start my unit so it could be broke in. After 15 seconds of running, one of the spark plug connectors fell apart and the unit died. I called Westinghouse as the owners manual told me too and after a very long time on hold, my call was answered. I told them the issue, Sent pictures, was told to and did send my Amazon receipt to prove the unit was new. They wanted to send me a new plug wire assembly and have me do the work myself. I explained that I'm a Veteran who is 100% disabled and getting that low to the ground was a problem. Then, they wanted to send me to an authorized repair center. I asked them how I was going to load a 400+ lb. generator and what was I supposed to load it into? About a week later, two spark assembly wires arrived. Frustratedly I decided to give it a try as the Rep. for Westinghouse assured me it would not void my warranty. I spent three hours dismantling my new generator and replacing the bad unit. Once completed, I test ran the unit with Propane. It ran for 12 seconds and shut down. I switched to gas and got the same result. I'm staring in the face of hurricane season with a broken $3,000 generator from a company that doesn't seem too concerned about standing behind their product. Buyers beware!!!
