Press the long tab on the back at the top and it will open up a tad. Now turn the AcuRite 180 degrees over so that the face is facing the floor. A small metal stand should drop out. From there you are all set. I have found that the work quite well. However, replacement batteries - as I recall - were a tad hard to find. Maybe it is just me being a non tech guy. But it lasts for months, maybe years.
