I bought them for my dad who had a total shoulder replacement. They freeze quickly and are very comfortable for use. They were very effective at easing my dad's pain. They look really high quality and the size is perfect large area coverage. They easily covered the entire shoulder. I am happy with his purchase and would purchase again, if ever needed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Ice Packs—and a Surprisingly Useful Second Purpose *by on Reviewed in the United States August 9, 2026* I originally bought these ice packs to help reduce swelling following foot surgery, and they worked very well for that purpose. They freeze relatively quickly and remain cold for a reasonably long time before warming up during use.After I no longer needed them for their original medical purpose, however, I discovered an unexpected second use for them. I place one flat against the back of my backpack cooler and the other against the front. I still use a couple of frozen gel packs in the middle with the food and drinks, but these large ice packs significantly improve the cooler's ability to retain cold.I think of them as a sort of "sacrificial insulation." At the end of a long day, both of the large ice packs will be completely thawed, but the food and drinks between them are still ice cold. In other words, they seem to absorb a considerable amount of the heat that otherwise would have reached the contents of the cooler. I expect they would work equally well laid flat on top of the contents of a chest-type cooler.That second use has made these ice packs much more valuable to me than I originally expected. They performed very well for their intended purpose and then proved useful for something I had never considered when I bought them.I gave these five stars because they have provided an unexpected benefit completely beyond their intended purpose.
