Hello, is the cardboard of each piece covered with a plastic protective coat?

Hi, unfortunately, there is no individual plastic protective coating on each magnet. The set does come in plastic wrapping to protect the magnets.

What country are the magnets made in? i’m going to china and looking for gifts to take and i would hate to take something that says “made in chin

There's no country of origin mentioned on the shrink-wrap of the set. I will give the whole set as a gift, without breaking the shrink-wrap package. Sorry I cannot tell you more what's writing behind the individual magnet.
