Great value and quality for the price, EASY assembly... instructions below!
Bought this bike for my 7-year-old daughter. It’s easy to focus on the negative reviews, but I found the assembly of the bike to be easy and the quality of the bike to be well-made. It is definitely on the heavier side for a 20” bike, which would make lifting it up onto a curb a slight challenge for a young child, but it does not affect riding. My daughter is flying on it with no issue. :) The gears have helped her keep up with her older sisters when we go up neighborhood hills. It's a rugged, sturdy bike, so she’s having a blast riding over curbs and bumps that she couldn’t do on previous bikes. It’s true: the instructions handbook wasn’t very helpful. It was a bit too wordy, didn’t have enough illustrations, and lacked clear easy-to-follow steps. So, I collected tips from fellow reviewers, watched a few videos, and consolidated instructions here as best I could: 1. After getting all the packaging off of the bike parts (which probably took the most time out of the whole process, haha), you can use the big box the bike came in as a stand to prop up the bike. Set the bike up right, resting on its back wheel… then, hang the front of the bike (which doesn’t have a wheel) over and into the big box. Your bike should be standing upright, supported by the box. 2. Now that the bike is standing upright, you can install the handlebars. Loosen the bolt on the piece that gets inserted into the rest of the bike. It’ll help it slide in easier. When it’s been inserted at the appropriate length, you can tighten the bolt to secure the connection to the rest of the bike. You may notice your handlebars look misaligned - like the brakes are in a weird position. DO NOT mess with the brakes themselves. To level out the brakes, simply loosen the bolt on the front of the handlebars. Once loosened, turn the handlebars until the brakes are aligned with the level of the rider’s arms/wrists/hands. Once level, you can tighten that front bolt. (See photos) 3. Next install the seat. (See photo) 4. Now that the seat is installed, flip the bike upside-down to install the front tire. (You no longer need the big box) You’ll need to loosen the brake wire to make enough space for the front bike to slide into place. (See photo) Also, you’ll need to temporarily remove the nut and washer from both sides (these will be secured in the next step). Once the brake is separated widely enough, insert the front wheel into place. Secure it into place by putting the wash and nut back on. The washer has small point end that should be inserted into a tiny hole on the bike frame. (See photo) Now, you can adjust the brake wire again to an appropriate length and tighten it accordingly. 5. Attach foot pedals. They have L and R stickers for left and right. The R pedal goes on the side with the chain and gears. (See photo) 6. Install the ‘gear protector’ rail (looks like a water bottle holder) over the gears on the right side of the rear tire. (See photo) 7. I ordered a separate kickstand that would fit a 20” bike. Install was pretty straightforward. (See photo) 8. Finally, install the front white reflector onto the handrails and the red rear reflector under the seat. 9. Adjust the seat height so that the rider’s legs are almost fully extended, but with a slight bend in the knees. When seated, your rider might be on her/his tiptoes when standing on the ground. You’re done! Hope this helps - happy riding!

Awesome all-around bike for kids
Recently purchased this bike for my 7-year-old Daughter’s birthday. We have had a lot of great experiences with Diamondback bikes before; high quality components, all-around solid build. This bike is no different. As her first suspension bike, my daughter loves riding over rocks on trails, a total confidence booster! We weren’t sure if a 20” bike was too big for her so we used the Diamondback Live Chat feature on their website. It was very helpful in picking the right bike and size, highly recommend the service if you have any questions. Shipping was fast (2-day Prime) and the bike was a breeze to assemble, especially since the box comes with all the tools you need. Our favorite part is the 6-speed gears. It’s our daughter’s first bike with gears and she is way faster riding now! The trigger shifter was very easy for her to learn and they shift very smoothly. If anyone is looking for a kid’s bike this Christmas season, I highly recommend this bike + a kickstand

Good Quality Bike
This bike rides smoothly and feels very sturdy. The design is sleek, and the gears shift. Good fit for my 7 year old.

It is steel not aluminum
I bought this because it says aluminum frame in the description which comes first in the page. I didn't notice it says steel in the latter section. And no, it is not aluminum, it is steel. The front brake caliper was broken when I took it from the box. But customer service was good that they sent me a spare part (even better than the original one) promptly. The bike itself is ok. Solid and smooth. I did some light tuning for brake and transmission.

Bike was amazing!!
Bike was amazing!!! My daughter loves it. Though is does not come with a kick stand. (We knew this) and went with amazons suggestion of the “frequently bought together” and it showed this bike with a black kick stand for about $10. So I ordered it thinking that’s what everyone uses so it’s fine. Wrong. It was a piece of crap that was too long for the bike and the drilled out holes were not in the correct locations so we couldn’t even attach it to the bike. It went right in the trash, not even worth returning. So do your research if you want a kickstand with this beautiful sturdy bike.

Only buy if you have a death wish for your child
ZERO STARS would be appropriate. I wanted to love this bike. Asthetically it was beautiful and seemed well built. Assembly seemed easy even though there were no assembly directions. The reason for my return is the rear brakes which for the record come already on the rear tire. On our second ride my 6 year old daughter was riding down hill swiftly and I kept telling her to slow down. She was trying and had I not screamed her name at the top of my lungs. The oncoming car in the cross intersection would not have swerved and missed her by less than a foot. Needless to say we walked our bikes home both in tears for the near miss. My husband adjusted the brakes after watching several YouTube videos since there were no directions and got he bike to stop via the brakes. One ride later on our sidewalk and the brakes were back to not touching the tire at all. Nope, not worth the safety and life of my child. Sounds dramatic but I honestly thought she was going to get hit due to the brakes being complete trash.

Great Bike for small riders
I decided on this bike because of the name and the good reviews. We were originally looking at a look alike bike at Wal-Mart but thankfully they were out of stock. This bike is considerably lighter for easier maneuverability for small riders. It also has really good quality hardware and the paddle gear shifts were easy for my daughter to figure out. The price being only $40 more then the other bike is hands down a WAY better deal!! Overall quality is there and will last well into another young rider we pass it on to.

Wonderful Bike, Horrible Assembly Process
We purchased 2 bikes, one for each of our nieces, and these bikes are sturdy. They will easily be able to take a beating by two very energetic little girls. The color is perfect (pink for us) and there are plenty of big spaces for them to add stickers and whatever else they like to personalize the bikes. My problem with the bikes is they are very difficult to assemble as the instructions are just about useless and there were pieces included that were nowhere to be found in the instructions. We ended up having to look up videos and zoom in on the pictures so that we could properly assemble the bike. The second bike actually had some pieces missing as the inside box full of screws, washers, etc. busted open in shipment causing some pieces to fall out (we assume). Further, our bike did not come with a kickstand. We figured as much from the reviews but it doesn't appear it is made clear from the information provided by the manufacturer on here. We will probably end up purchasing the kickstands but I truly cannot understand why they don't seem to be included anymore.
