How is the packing done? Will the drives get destroyed in shipping?

Packing is bad. The hard disk (with its original packaging) is simply put in a cardbox with out any bubble wrap or any paper stuffing. I didn't see any physical damage and checked the disk for errors using windows tool and crystaldiskinfo. There is a Seagate disk checking tool also. Depending on your luck, you may get an error free hard drive.

Is the item replaceable if found defective?

Yes, 7 days replacement I believe. They may ask you to directly get in touch with Seagate for the disk replacement.
