Sputnik: An Introductory Russian Language Course, Part 2

great context, easy to understand, great illustration!

This has been a true assest in learning Russian!

I study Russian daily, and this textbook is my main resource.In Part 1, I learned the alphabet, numbers, seasons, a few ways to conjugate verbs, and the Nominative, Accusative, and Prepositional cases.In Part 2, I'm learning more complex methods of counting, specifying location, verbs of motion, perfective verbs, and the Genitive, Dative, and Instrumental cases. Both parts are supposed to take you to A1 level fluency.I like the online resource - occasionally, the textbook directs you to their website to listen to some dialogues. There aren't too many of these exercises, though.I would give this textbook 5 stars if there were answers to the exercises in the back of the book. The author has created this resource mainly for teachers of Russian, so that the teachers are able to grade the students' work themselves. As someone who studies Russian on their own, I've found this difficult. I recently started Skyping with a Russian tutor and she has been grading my work for me.

I just received this course book and I must let you know how impressed I am with the design of this inside and out! The Font is large and easy to read, there is ample space between every line, example and picture so you don’t feel overwhelmed and claustrophobic with „input“. The illustrations are very adorable. Kudos to the illustrator! There are audio files to listen to. At first, the audio didn’t work on my iPhone so I wrote to the website email and they updated my (free registration) account right away.

The second volume seems to have more mistakes in it than the first one, but they're not critical. I guess most people don't get this far.
