A bidet is no longer a luxury, it's now a necessity!
Never had a bidet before but had a friend recommend to me. I picked this one and have no regrets. Installation was simple, although I did have to install an AC outlet within a few feet of the toilet, but that wasn't difficult. The effect of this washlet seat is remarkable. Toilet paper consumption is drastically reduced, saving money and helping to extend the life of my septic system. I'm amazed at how well it cleans, and how lousy toilet paper actually was. I do wish the tank was able to hold more water though, as the heated water only lasts about 20 seconds on full blast, so needless to say sometimes the ambient temperature water is still required before you're finished. It's not bad though and I would never stop using it now that I have it. The heated seat is great in winter too.. They're a bit more expensive than some others, but the quality of construction and the excellent hand-held remote control are worth every penny spent.

You won’t regret this purchase
A friend told me a few years ago that bidets were the best thing going. Being a stubborn boomer, I ignored him and continued to destroy my nether regions with TP and various methods of assuring complete cleanliness. Finally, push came to shove (ha!) and I needed a solution for my worsening issue with, well, you know what. So I read the reviews, Amazon, Wirecutter, etc, and chose the Toto. It is, quite simply, life-changing. First: ease of install. Yes. And while you don’t have to be a plumber or electrician to install, take your time, read the directions, don’t use tools to tighten where they tell you not to use tools, and you’ll be fine. I have no leaks, no issues. I wish, however that I had a plug closer to the toilet instead of using an extension cord…an easy enough fix. Using: read the directions on what the symbols on the remote mean. I’m a typical male, so I didn’t, figuring I could easily translate the symbols. Nope. If you’ve never used a bidet, read the directions. Does it work? Oh my yes. After an initial adjustment period and experimentation, it is perfect for my nether region’s requirements for absolute cleanliness and “debris” removal. Regrets? Only one, and it’s by no means the fault of my Toto Seat. When I replaced the toilets in my house a few years ago, I screwed up, buying one round bowl and one long bowl. Toto makes seats for both, and I’d be happier if I had a long bowl toilet and a long bowl seat/bidet. But for most, round will be fine, and for now it’s fine for me as well. The heated seat, fan, and warm-water functions are wonderful. The seat is sturdy and appears to be durable. Unlike actual bidet units such as you see 9n Europe, the unit isn’t intimidating and the working bits retract into the seat when not being used, and automatically rinses everything that needs to be rinsed off. In short, buy it. You’ll absolutely love it, as do I. Worth every penny.

The Best Combination of Features, Functionality and Value.
I evaluated several higher end bidet toilet attachments controlled by a remote. I did this mostly by reading the Amazon Product Reviews on all the different products. After a lot of reading, I decided that this Toto model was the best combination in terms of features and functionality, at the best price. One of the pans in the reviews about this Toto was that the seat lid is sufficiently lightweight that you can't really sit on it. I don't often sit on the lid of my toilet, so I wasn't too worried about this, but I do like things to feel sturdy, so I looked into the other major brands. Only one seemed to have a lid that you could sit on and that brand had too many quality complaints. Therefore, I decided I couldn't eliminate this Toto because of the lightweight lid......this seems pretty standard through the different brands. The only other major complaint about this TOTO was the lack of a nightlight. That wasn't something I really cared about, either......however, now that I have it and I am using it, honestly the five LED Status lights on the Left Side of the Toto throw off enough light to serve as a nightlight. Not sure why I would need more. So per the above, once I decided the two main "pans" on the Toto weren't issues, I went through all the features and reviews of the different brands. This Toto had the same features as the other "high-end" bidets (Save for the nightlight), but the quality reviews of the Toto seemed better to me. I felt the other brands had more complaints. I also liked where the water hose and plug attachments were on the Toto, because they matched my bathroom setup. It was a trip to Japan that got me to want a bidet, and all I saw there were Toto, so if Toto was in the ballpark, I was going to go with them. A nice reminder of a great, memorable trip. This Toto model was also available for "Round" toilets and not all the brands were available for round toilets. Finally, Amazon had a good price on this because it was a "damaged box" price. That price, around $375, put it below the other brand choices and it had everything I wanted and no real detriments that were material. Note that, for round toilets, there are some complaints that round toilets with these attachments end up with a smaller opening, almost like replacement windows make your window a little bit smaller. This is true, but I didn't really have a choice, as there was only one bathroom in my house where it was easy to run an outlet. (You do need to have a GFC Outlet to plug this into). The attachment does make the opening smaller. It isn't bothering me; I am 6'2" and 185 Pounds. I could see how it could feel too small if I was larger, but fortunately, it is working ok for my body type. The toilet did arrive with a damaged box, as advertised and the reason for my better price. However, everything that was supposed to be in the box was in there and looked brand new and well packaged. I found the instructions intuitive and I think I could have done the installation myself pretty easily. However, I broke the water shut off valve as I began to install this and had to call the plumber in. There was one really thorough review regarding this product, where the reviewer comments negatively on the plastic "Y-Valve" that comes with this attachment. (The Y-Valve allows you to run water to both your toilet tank and this bidet, without making any plumbing changes). I agree with the reviewer that the plastic Y valve didn't feel very sturdy. My plumber said he thought the plastic Y-Valve would be fine, but I had already bought a nice metal Y-Valve on Amazon and I had him install that one. Note that my plumber also said that if you remove the existing water line nuts to put in the Y-Valve (You almost have to), that it is advisable to use new nuts. For some reason, he said you sometimes can't get a nice watertight fit without a new nut. For this reason, I had already bought a new waterline to go from the Y Valve to the Toilet Tank. I have reinstalled waterline nuts before, but I do remember it was hard to get it to seal. I remember tinkering with it for a long time. The plumber installed the whole thing in like 15 minutes. I am good with technology, but getting older, so I was surprised how easily I learned to use this toilet attachment. There were some complaints that the remote isn't descriptive enough, but I thought the images made sense and I learned how to use the remote quickly. There is also a really helpful, heavy duty card that you can install behind the remote wall bracket, so that guests/first-timers can see what each button means. My 25 Year old son came in and used the toilet and was able to figure it out without looking at the instruction book or getting any guidance from us, so I had a very different experience from those reviewers who had negative comments about the remote. There were also some complaints that this Toto's water wasn't hot for long enough. There are some attachments that have continuously hot water heaters. Honestly, though, I found the time the warm water lasts to be more than enough for me. It wouldn't be worth it for me to pay more for a continuous water heater. There were also some complaints in the reviews about the effectiveness of the drier. I thought it worked pretty well for me. It certainly doesn't have the heat or strength of one of those restaurant bathroom hand driers, but it was sufficient. The unit is relatively unobtrusive and silent. It does what it does subtly. One thing that bothered me a bit at first is that the toilet lid does not lean back against the toilet tank. The hinge only goes to 85 degrees, whereas it would have to go to 95 degrees or so to hit the toilet tank. But, my wife noticed we have another lid that does the same thing and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. The seat is also contoured downwards, so it isn't a natural motion to lean back against the lid. In short, this aspect hasn't bothered me. I do wish the whole unit was a bit more ceramic and less plasticy, but that seems to be the way most of these products are designed. I DEFINITELY wouldn't sit on the lid. It is just too flimsy. When you really contemplate the functionality of this unit, I suppose the emphasis is to provide the functionality and then the plastic helps them to get to a price point. I will say that people can be rough on things and the plastic does give he unit some give, which I hope helps it hold up over time. We shall see. Overall, I am really happy with this purchase. It was easy to learn how to use. It worked as advertised and I was happy with the functionality of all the features. It really only took me "one sitting" to feel like I had been using it forever. It worked that seamlessly. I also like that I have his product from this well-known Japanese company, because, as I said above, it reminds me of a fantastic trip and life experience!

Luxury bidet
This is an upgrade from a non-electric bidet. TLDR: a huge upgrade in terms of comfort and performance. Obviously, it costs a lot more than the one it replaced. Installation - I am comfortable doing around-the-house project work. I consider this to be a pretty easy installation. I had no leaks and it worked fine the first time I installed it. The only minor issue I ran into was the location of the "snap on" latch (the seat slides into it). The manual was confusing. I figured it out, but still not sure what they described. Features: heated seat, pre-mist the bowl, heated water, air dryer, different settings for the water wand. -The heated seat will be a personal preference. Our bathroom is not really cold in the winter, but it is nice to sit down and have a warm seat. There are three levels of heat - lowest is my favorite, the highest value is quite warm. -Pre-mist. It basically sprays part of the inside of the toilet before someone uses it. The idea is that, uh, less stuff will stick and should be less messy. Seems to work. -Heated water. My old bidet just used the cold water. Our water is cold - especially in the winter. It was not pleasant getting sprayed by freezing water. The heated water is great! However, the tank seems to not hold much water. After a minute, I notice the water is no longer as warm as it used to be. This model has a limited tank size. This is disappointing - would expect enough water for at least 2 minutes. -Air dryer. Another nice feature. Instead of using toilet paper to dry off, use the air dryer. It has three levels of heat. The air output is not super powerful. To dry your rear, I would guess it make take about 2 minutes of air to do the job. It would be nice if it had a bit more power. Heat levels are good - you will not be burning your back (or front). -Water pressure. This was designed well. You can go with a limited amount of pressure up to a higher pressure. Even at the highest, it is not uncomfortable. My old bidet could actually cause an injury at full blast! -Wand length. One other nice setting is the ability to adjust how far out the wand sticks. You can adjust until it finds the right spot. This should allow people to adjust it to their personal body layout. -Oscillating wand. When the device is spraying, it moves back and forth to do a much better job of cleaning you. It cuts down on what I called the "bidet scoot" - this is where you move your body to make sure the water hits the right spots. You still need to do a little bit of this action, but much less. -Remote. I think the remote is confusing at first. You figure it out, but some of the icons are not very clear. The back of the remote is difficult to use - you will need the manual to make full use of it. However, I think once you set things up on the back, you most likely will not need to change settings. -Seat heat. This might not really be a feature, but the set is about a half inch taller than my old toilet seat. My knees love the added height! -Odor filter. A fan pulls in air from the inside of the bowl and passes it over a filter. It is supposed to reduce odor. It does not have any type of fragrance/perfume. I am not sure how well this works. Summary: this bidet is expensive compared to some of the non-electric bidets (and more than other electric bidets for that). You have to decide if the comfort and benefits are worth it. Had I known about the limited amount of hot water, I would have spent extra to get one that has unlimited heated water. My review is 4/5 based on that.

You will be so glad you got this!!!
I've waited to review my Washlet, but I can say that after 2 months use, I continually thank myself for finally getting it. It is beautifully thought out and designed as expected from a company with a long history like Toto. It was delivered well boxed and protected. I will not repeat other reviews, but they were very helpful to read, which I did for a LONG time before I ordered the Washlet. 1. It's easy to install. I did have an outlet at the correct side and height already. The instructions are clear and the fittings that come with it are well thought out to eliminate connection problems at the tank. Some of the review videos online were really helpful to watch to confirm that it would be straightforward because I was afraid of screwing up. 2. I did not get this for its heated seat. But it is a wonderful feature that continues to surprise me with a relaxing comfort every time it's used, whether daytime or middle of the night. 3. While you may well have to use one bit of toilet paper to dab off moisture at the end, it is really incredible that the spray cleans - completely - eliminating the need for toilet paper as we are all used to using it. Those of us with hemorrhoids as well, have a very happy bum. Because of the huge reduction in toilet paper needed, it reduces septic load big time. 4. You'll continue to clean your bowl as you've always done, but cleaning the mechanics of the washing wands, etc will require you to read the very well written manual. It is very easy to slide the unit forward, once installed, to clean underneath the power module at the back. But read the instructions. Ordering it: It's pretty incredible we can order things like this by mail. That said, big heads up - pay attention to the supplier it's coming from. If it says comes from and ships from Amazon, you are best served by using that. You can see that information over on the right hand side on every Amazon page. If there is more than one supplier and you should research each one. At the time I ordered, it was not "sold by and shipped from Amazon". I was able to pick an American plumbing supply company. When I first started researching the Washlet here, there were some shady third party companies offering it and I have been impressed to see Amazon evidently take control of that situation. They also stabilized the price. It's a big ticket item and it matters how the product is handled.

Upgrade your Throne to upgrade your Life!
After a trip to Japan, I really came to appreciate that these were common. And quite useful and nice. A warmed seat. And warmed water!!! I had a cheap version without electricity years ago, but the COLD water was a bit shocking when it hit. This fixes that. Yes, you have to find a way to plug it in. I had to run a GFCI outlet in behind the toilet to make this work. That was the hardest part. Other than that, it installs in minutes. It's configurable. The night light feature cannot be turned off (that I found). So I had to put some painters tape over the blue light. Having a LITTLE light is nice, and turned out to be a bonus feature. Self cleaning works, and their is a door to protect everything from getting "soiled". I have 2 small complaints. I am a bigger guy. And this shrinks the effective "opening", so I have to sit a particular way (which probably helps this thing aim consistently). And my previous toilet seat could be used to SIT down or put my clean feet on as I would dry my feet out of the shower. One should NOT do either this this toilet seat. (It triggers the "about to be used" features, and the toilet seat warming). Not to mention, you will break the LID if you TRIED to sit on it. Otherwise. It's truly amazing. (Cheaper options are available, but the high-end hotels in Japan all used this brand)

Ten things I hate about you
1. The bidet wand has to come out of a little garage and takes easily 10-35 seconds to do so. It annoys me far more than I ever expected. If you want to change wand settings? Another 30 seconds. 2. The entire seat is angled so it always feels like it's trying to dump you off, and you can't really lean back at all or the toilet seat lid tries to pop off. 3. Who is using the dryer function, are people really sitting on their toilet for 5 min to dry off??? It's so unnecessary as is the seat warmer and water warmer. It sounds nice until you realize it makes your toilet feel like it was just sat on and the warm bidet water makes it feel like the toilet is peeing on you. Ick 4. The ungodly bright blue led light that exists for no other reason than to piss you off. It's a $500 toilet seat and did they illunmate the remote buttons? Nope. But you get a random light that will make it impossible to sleep if your bathroom is attached to your bedroom. Yay. 5. The system to fasten it to your toilet is garbage lol overcomplicated and you can't ever tighten it so it is tight. I regularly would shift my weight and it would flop half the toilet seat off the side. Watch some videos if you don't believe it, very common issue that my cheaper $30 bidet never had. 6. The water pressure isn't as high as on my neo bidet so it didn't really feel like it was cleaning as well. 7. The toilet seat is easily 15% smaller than the standard one in the US. So it's not 10 things but I hate this thing. I tried really hard to love it but it's so over complicated and unnecessary. I was always losing the remote or sliding off the side of the seat. Then waiting 30 seconds just to get a trickle of water sprayed at me. Just get a 30$ bidet seriously it does everything you're looking for

Easy installation, worth the money.
Packaged arrived next day as scheduled thru prime. Package included all necessary parts to install. (T valve for water, and adjustable bracket and screws to install). GFCI was already available, so no need for electrician. Removed the original seat and followed the directions. Tools needed were a tape measure and a Philips screw driver to tighten the seat to the toilet. They supplied the rubber bushings with nuts attached that easily pushed into the holes on the toilet. They give a starting dimension of where to put the adjustable mounting plate. I installed per that dimension and had to move it one notch so that the front of the seat lined up with the front of the toilet. Turned off the water to the toilet tank and drained it by holding the flush lever down before removing the fill line. Installed the tee valve and rehooked the main line and the line to the seat. Turned the water back on and plugged it in. After reading the directions and watching an online video for the remote, I turned it all on and tested all the functions. ( use a cup or can to catch the water from the wand to keep from getting water on the floor.) The seat heater works great and comforting. When it is time to wash, the water starts out warm, but cools off towards the end of the cycle. The heated dryer works good. I had zero leaks, and the seat is sturdy and does not move. The top lid cannot be sat on due to the electronics involved and may crack and due damage. I have only had it for a week and so far so good. Money well spent.

Excellent bidet, but expensive
I'm a bit choked that the "round" version of this is double the price of the elongated shape, but it is an excellent product. The heated seat is a must-have feature! I am a bit wary of the plastic cracking, but the Toto brand feels MUCH more sturdy than the Brondell we tried previously (which was broken from the start and their customer service took three weeks to even get back to us... so we returned it and never went back). I am trusting the Toto reputation and thus far it feels earned!

A very useful product
I'm dealing with an elderly dementia patient and this product make the process so much easier. It's not perfect, but it eliminates a lot of the manual effort and mess. The installation was relatively painless and it all went well the first time, but the centering instructions could be better. The quality of the product is a little cheap for the price; I can see the cheap plastic breaking over time. The outer seat does not appear to open as wide as it should, I can see a heavy person leaning back against this and breaking it. The lid seems to line up with the hinge, so I assume it's installed properly. The remote is well thought out and well made, although I'd like to see an auto routine that runs through a series of preprogrammed steps. Better still a phone app with a camera built into the washing tube, so you can see what you're doing. Ideally, a phone app with AI built in, so Skynet can do a proper job of cleaning your business. I'm only partially kidding about this, just think of the money you could make off the Geeks. Overall I'm happy with the design and build quality of the unit, and remote, other than the chinsy outer cover. In my case, it also covers a real need, and I might enjoy a heat Tushy as well.

everything we wanted
Although a bit pricey, it's a great bidet. Warms the water to the temperature you like has all the bells and whistles! My husband installed it in no time. We are very happy with this bidet.
