Worth every penny!
This is an amazing product!!! I love to have things that looks expensive and well done but I dont always have the money for it and this product does exactly that. It turns anything into an exoensive piece of furniture. It is easy to use (you can't mess it up), a little bit goes a long way and it sticks to anything and once cure it stands anything. This is the gold standard for DIYers with champage taste and beer budget! 😆

Unbelievable what happened
I’m not much of a reviewer because I like to be thorough and don’t have much time. This product however I had to review. I took a super ugly countertop that was light colored, stained with either black marker or paint, and badly scratched, and made it absolutely beautiful. I am a do it yourself kind of guy but a bit of a critic when I “do it myself.” After I got done with Retique there was nothing negative to say about how the product worked. It came out so beautifully I kept having to look at it over and over because I couldn’t believe it. A lot of times refinishing, or resurfacing a countertop will take a long time of sanding, and cleaning. Not this time. I simply wiped the counter clean, put on the product once, then the second time I painted the product I used the wood graining tool, and stained. I will say, I was a bit skeptical about purchasing the product because of some of the bad reviews. Some people said that the product came watery, other people said that the product came dry, despite the comments I decided to buy it anyway. It was a bit watery, but you have to stir the product well, and when you do it thickens up. Also, you should know that the videos and the product description says it’s a low odor, but I still think it had a strong smell. It might just be me, or my sensitive nose, but just that word of precaution, that if you have sensitivities to smell, you should wear a proper mask while using the product. Other than that, if you follow all of the instructions, and take your time, whatever project you’re doing will come out beautifully. Honestly I couldn’t be happier with the way the counter came out. Thanks Retique.

Great product for updating old furniture!
As an environmentalist, I hate the idea of throwing out perfectly good furniture when there are so many great products out there that can give your old furniture a new look. I wanted to try updating an old orange-colored desk and chair that I've had since middle school. However, most of the desk is made out of particle board, so I couldn't sand the desk down and use a stain. Instead, I painted Retique It Dark Wood on the top of the desk (which was a very shiny, slick material) and the entire chair (after using wood filler to fill any dents, of course). It was extremely easy to paint the Retique It on with a foam brush; even my ten-year-old son was able to help with this part. After drying, I used a Java gel stain from General Finishes on the Retique It. I discovered the easiest way to apply the gel stain was by putting on gloves and then wearing a clean sock over the glove. I didn't wipe back the oil-based gel stain and let it dry as a dark color. The gel stain does have to dry for a very long time (72+ hours) or it just comes off again. Then I painted on three coats of General Finishes QTHF High Performance Water Based Topcoat in Flat for protection. On the bottom of the desk, I used Dixie Belle Paint Company Chalk Finish Furniture Paint (Buttercream); it's not necessary to use Retique It under the chalk paint. Lastly, I removed the gold hardware, spray painted it with Rust-Oleum in a cardboard box, and reattached the hardware. Refinishing the desk went so well that I plan to refinish the chest of drawers and bed that goes with the desk so that they all match. Now I am a huge fan of Retique It and hope that this product inspires others to simply paint their old furniture instead of adding it to landfills. The great thing about Retique It and chalk-paint products is that if you mess up or decide you don't like the look you added, you can just easily paint right over it again. These products adhere to about anything. Please see the before and after photos to see how the desk was transformed!

It works!!!!! But.....
First of all the seller of this product is very fast and professional. The product works just like it says.. Since it is so thin it holds very little stain....if you use a graining tool the thicker stain will sand away all the way to this product underneath. leaving a not so attractive finish...oil based poly removed the stain from the surface completely...had to start over on that section....I switched to water based poly and it worked but sanding between coats must be done with very fine (1500 grit). If not you will remove the stain under the poly...i tried 400 grit,600 grit and 1200 grit papers...Bottom line it works as advertised, just don't expect a miracle..

Has been diluted
I am familiar with Retique it liquid wood and have ordered it many times from the Retique it website. This was my first time ordering via Amazon. The two jars I received did not leak, but they were not sealed. The consistency was extremely watery. The logical conclusion is that they had been opened and watered down. I’m talking reeeeeeally watered down. In all the other jars I’ve ordered, they need to be stirred well before using as they contain real wood particles that can settle to the bottom. There was absolutely so settling if any particles in the bottom of these jars. The color was way off as well, which also makes me think this may not just be a watered down product, but may not contain any real Retique or liquid wood at all. Im obviously returning the product and will be only ordering directly from the company’s website from now on. Update: it should’ve noted that you will get special deals if you order from Retiqueit.com. I just placed my order and they gave me 20% off as well as free 2-day shipping.

Not 100% sure about this one yet.
Trying to do mock-paneling on my basement walls. Seems to absorb the stain well, and I have liked the color it produces. But it hasn't accepted my wood graining tool very well. Seems like it might be a little thin for woodgraining. Still working on the process. Might be better on a horizontal surface, but mine is vertical.

Worked time and again!
We put liquid wood and then it beautifully picked up the espresso colored poly stain that we put on afterwards. We repeated steps on every single door in our house. Now it looks like we bought installed modern solid wood doors instead of the cheap hollow standard doors that were the norm back in the 70s. Completely satisfied with the outcome. Product is extremely easy to work with too
