Probably a dumb question. But curiosity. What are these used for?

Pelvic floor physical therapy and used by pelvic floor therapists. Women have pelvic pain conditions such as Vaginismus and Vulvodynia and need Dilators. Also women who go through cancer treatments and suffer from Vaginal Atrophy benefit from Dilators.

Currently my hubby uses his fingers to stretch me which is uncomfortable and awkward! Would these be any better?

Yes these are vaginal dilators and would work much better than fingers...as they work all the way around at one time and are larger.

Are these latex free??

Yes they are latex free. They are not like the toys. These are a hard plastic. Not bendable.

What is the best type of lubricant to use with these? Or is the lube packets they come with enough?

You can use any type of lubricant that does not burn you. Water-based is the best. Do not use petroleum jelly. You get two samples of lubricant to try because most people have their own type that they use. The slippery stuff lubricant is great for people that have pelvic pain and sensitive skin.
