Our Samsung TV isn't new, but not ancient either. The sound is more than adequate on some programs, but then on others we strain to hear, especially dvd's or screen mirroring from laptop. We looked at TV soundbars and speakers at the yellow-sign store where we bought our TV, but they were expensive, and after reading reviews, were iffy, and maybe hard to set up/use, especially for older non-techy people. Then I saw this type of speaker here on Amazon. First the wireless one, which seemed perfect, but then I read about the problem with the batteries, so I decided to go with this "wired" version. Wireless would have the advantage of sitting it near you. Wired is more limiting. Unlike the soundbar-type, this was a piece of cake to hook up. Just plug it in, from speaker to TV, and then from speaker to wall outlet. So easy to use, just turn the knob. That's it. The only problem is the wires limit how far you can move this, so it's currently sitting on the dresser under the TV, which hangs on the wall above. So we do have to actually get up and turn it on/off/up or down, just like in the old days. (Usually just once an evening.) But that's okay. We may try to get some extenders for the wires, so we can move it closer to us, but it really doesn't seem necessary, as it provides the extra boost of sound we needed, even from across the room. The sound is good, at least as good in quality as our TV speaker. We've had it for a week; if we have problems I'll update this. For half the price of the soundbar type (or less), I'm satisfied with this purchase. My one concern is longevity. Time will tell. (If it weren't for the exploding batteries, I'd have peferred the wireless, so I could carry it into another room when needed.)

Bought this for my aging parents. They were looking for a speaker that could sit next to recliner and was low tech. They were very pleased and found it easy to use. Sound is very good.

Wow! My 93-yr old mom with hearing aids sat in a long-term care facility for eight months, blasting the tv volume in her room, to no avail. Bought this speaker which we set up right next to her! Alas, she can hear the programs!!! Easy to operate for someone with arthritis - simply turn the big knob! I plugged the cables into the back of her older, non-blue tooth tv, a few plugs into the wall, and "Voila!" Sound! Wish I had done this way sooner! Thank you for saving the day!!!NOTE: This also allowed us to eliminate one of the remotes as well, so helped my mom in this manner too. Strongly recommend!

Bought for my Mom who doesn't like to wear her hearing aids and has the TV way to loud and everyone around her Apt. could hear her TV.Set it near her chair and only need to turn the volume about 1/2 way up.

Not much instructions with this product so it was hard to set up and honestly I gave up there wasn’t much I could do about getting no help

I found it overwhelming to install. I went to You Tube and watched a couple of videos on installing one. I got to the point that when I opened one video I found the best advice..."research a sound device before you buy one (which I didn't do) to make sure it will work with your tv." I took the advice. Although this one might work with many tv's I couldn't get it to work with mine. My best advice would be to buy the same brand sound device as is the brand of your television. It makes it much easier to pair.

I am using this speaker to help drown out a noisy neighbor - share a wall between living rooms. It really does work well.

Great product. I contacted after sales service regarding a tiny problem with my speaker. They were very helpful by keeping in constant contact & the problem was resolved very quickly. Overall very happy with both the product and customer service. Would highly recommend.

This is a great idea for my very hard of hearing father aged 95. It’s easily set up & saves him having the volume so high that’s it’s deafening. Works great & he’s very happy with it.
