It lets me lower my heat in the evening and snuggle on the couch to read or watch TV in absolute warmth. It's SO soft and if you don't need the hood, it folds nicely to use as neck support. Note that it does seem to get bigger as you wear it... seems to stretch out. I'm 5ft 1in, and it hasn't touched my ankles. The front pocket is very large. Easily holds remotes, phone, glasses, tissues, a box of doughnuts or even a half grown kitten! I just wear it with a women's lightweight T-or undershirt, underpants, or sometimes yoga pants. I haven't washed it yet, but after 4-5 wearings I'm getting ready to. It's heavy, so balance your machine load. The instructions say to tumble dry on cool. We'll see.
