Best buy ever
I love love love these things. It has done wonders for my self esteem. I am able to grow indoors. I have baught this and another brand and both are fabulous ๐. If you like having fresh veggies at your fingertips this is for you It's easy set and set easy maintenance. All you do is add water plant and walk away. I see some reviews about the pump being loud they are not. I sleep with then in my room. Also replacement parts are easy to get. I lost the water plug. And to replace that it was only a few bucks and they sent multiple. The seeds are in my opinion extremely inexpensive. Also if your if you're ultimate goal is they grow outside this is a great seed starter. My boyfriend often uses one of mine just to start his seeds to transplant them outside. I could go on and on about how much i move thease lil things but you get the picture.

Worth every penny!
I am in love with this thing! I have a brown thumb and have never been able to grow anything to save my life! Thanks to this I now have ample tomatoes l, basil, dill, broccoli, cucumbers, bell peppers and more! I bought this on a whim when I lost my job figuring I should grow my own food before I starve. Everything sprouts quickly and the automatic timer for the light ensures the seeds get all the light they need. The pump works wonders for regulating the water and making sure all of the seeds get the nutrients they need. I love this thing and will continue to use it for a long time to come! Its lightweight even when full, and a nice size so I can keep it just about anywhere. Best part is that its quiet too!

Great customer service and easy to use
I've been using this since last summer, and it works great. It is incredibly easy to use. You literally fill it up with water, mix the provided fertilizer with water in the provided bottles (very hard to mess it up, since it's so clearly marked), pour the measured amount into the water, and chuck a few seeds (provided) into the spongy pods (aslo provided). And up comes your plants. I grew some of the delicious herbs it came with (two iterations), and after that, grew some notoriously difficult-to-grow lavender plants. Those are now standing at about 7-9" high, and will be going into individual pots to be moved to the garden in a month or two. However, as easy as all that was, I have to commend them on their customer service. I had some questions on fertilizer, and they responded very quickly, with friendly and helpful answers. Same with some follow-up questions. I wanted to buy some fertilizer without the plastic bottles (becasue I already have those, and there's no sense in getting more when the ones I have are still fine), but they don't offer the fertilizer as a separate product. They said that they would probably start offering that, for people who do not need the additional bottles, and who care about adding plastic to the ecosystem. They also recommended not buying fertilizer in bulk, as it is water-soluible and can easily spoil -- which I didn't know. I wholeheartedly recommend buying this product from this vendor, becasue of the ease of use, and even more so because of the great customer service, which is so hard to find these days. Edit: Since I raved about their customer service, I thought I'd add a few lines from their emails. Seriously, I don't even care if this was AI-generated, or randomly added by some nice-line editor (neither seems likely), but I appreciate the fact that someone at GardenCube cared enough to make it happen. - This was the first one, after I requested some support: "We hope you find this helpful and thank you for your support and interest in GardenCube." - Then when I asked a follow-up question, where I suggested they sell the fertilizer mix without the included plastic bottles: "Thank you again for being considerate of the environment, the world will be a better place because of you." - Later, after another follow-up question: "Wishing you all the love and happiness that you so richly deserve." - And most recently, after a question before I bought a larger one (12-pod; my first one was an 8-pod) of their planters: "I hope this experience will leave you with great memories :)" Seriously? :-) Someone needs to give their customer service people a bonus. I don't know where they are, but I feel like going there and buying them all lunch. Oh, and a follow-up on the lavender I mentioned above, is that they are now all too big for the planter, and will be moved to pots over the weekend. In a month or two they'll be outside, keeping the mosquitos away.

excellent support
Update: support has been excellent in getting the issue resolved. They have been very responsive and willing to help, best support I have seen so far! Unit is back up and running and starting to grow things! Original: Short story, unit was powered for less then 48 hours, button to turn lights on and off would turn lights off but never on. Lights started flickering after 24 hours of being powered. Had one bad flicker and then unit shut down with 0 signs of life close to the 40 hour mark. Long story: Was all excited to try to start growing my own herbs and plants before transplanting them in the yard. (Still cold here and the soil isn't the best so I wanted to start indoors). Got everything all set up the first day, probably was powered on for 10 hours. I had to shut the light off for the night since the timmer starts when you turn it on. The button to turn the light on the next day wouldn't work. But pressing the power button on and off worked. Was on and working for day 2, but at the end of the day I noticed the lights flickering. Every now and then turning off for a second. Turned the light off for bed (didn't get up early enough to set the timer right). The next day the button for the light still didn't work. I power cycled the unit and it turned on. A minute later the light flickered again, the off time lasted longer before it came back. Looked through the instructions and they recommended checking power connections. The unit suddenly died as I was trying this. Have not been able to get any sign of life since. Unit has not even been powered for 48 hours. Contacted support. Depending on how they handle this will depend on any adjustments to this review. Have not heard anything yet. Edit: support has been great both on the Amazon and warrenty side of things. If they follow through then support is an easy 5 stars.

Had to replace twice - LED lights give out - No customer service to speak of
**UPDATED - 11/15/25** I had to replace this system twice now. When it's working, my review below stands. However, after 1.5 years, the LED lights stopped working and just flickered - no response from the touch control panel. No helpful reply from customer service. It was only $40, so I just got a new one. 13 months later, exact same thing happened. I love having a small hydro garden in my house, so I'm getting another, but definitely a different brand. This time I'm going to read reviews that specifically cite strong customer service. I recommend you do the same and select a different brand (I'm guessing many of these "different" brands are made in the same factory in China, so I will be wary of those as well.) It's a pretty simple device, with a very low learning curve. It runs as good as it did when I began using it in January, and it's now September, and I've had it running nonstop that entire time. Three recommendations: 1) Clean it pretty regularly. I've cleaned it about once every two months, by unplugging it, then washing the inside out with white vinegar and a sponge, then rinsing it out well. This keeps mildew from growing too much, which in such a small body of water can affect the hardiness of the plants. 2) I haven't tried growing any vegetables in it, simply because many would grow too large. I suspect lettuces would do excellent in this, but I have yet to try that. I have used this strictly for fresh herbs, and it is absolutely perfect for this purpose. I stagger planting/harvesting 4 pods of basil, 2 at a time by planting 2 new ones once the other two get to be about 2-3 inches tall (they explode in growth after that). The other 4 pods I rotate out fresh thyme, dill, or parsley. 3) You don't need to buy complete refill kits as your planting pods run low. The plastic planting cones and covers are easily washable and reusable, so all you really need are just the starter pods themselves. Over time you'll need new fertilizer mix, though, which can also be purchased on its own. The fertilizer that came with this set lasted me about 7 months. Overall, I definitely recommend this product. It would make an excellent gift for someone who loves to cook and have fresh herbs on hand year-round.

LOUD Submersible Water Pumps
BEWARE == the pumps are very loud! This hydroponic kit has all that is needed to get started. There is one problem, though -- a BIG problem. The little water pump is very very loud and nothing has fixed the loud rattling sound. The little submersible pump is expensive and I'm unsure if a new pump would help. I bought TWO of these hydroponic systems so it's disappointing to have invested more than $70 only to have pumps that are very loud and rattle when on. Edited: Company reached out due to this review. I was refunded the full price for the 2 units without any hesitation. I must say that the customer service is excellent. That said, I moved the 2 units to a room that is unused and have watched the grow process. Though the pumps are substandard, all grow-cells have produced healthy plants. The units themselves work okay -- but the pumps are much too loud and I'm unsure if they will continue running. Since I had already planted seeds when the problem happened, I kept them running where no one can hear the racket. It's been about 50 days and my lettuces and mizuna have matured and we have eaten outer leaves.

Healthier Eating!
We are thoroughly enjoying our indoor garden system. We wanted to start with something easy and healthy and the lettuce turned out to be perfect. It's amazing to see how fast it grows, especially after the seedlings start sprouting. We can definitely taste the freshness.

PUMP FAILED
The pump failed pretty quick only managed to use it to grow fully once and then the pump was gone it would be nice to get a replacement as the rest is still good. Noticed algae growing in it which is strange as it is indoors and has no way of getting into the water.
