Key Urban Housing of the Twentieth Century: Plans, Sections and Elevations (Key Architecture Series)

Wow! This is an excellent and substandtive review of multifamily housing projects. Unlike many architecture books, which simply include a few random details along with the photos, this is a serious reference work. Each project is presented in a consistent fashion with its key features explained. Graphics are consistent between projects. If that weren't enough, it also includes a CD with all the referenced drawings in DWG and EPS formats. This is a must for any architect interested in multifamily housing.

I looked at this book at the book store for a while designing apartment buildings. I had to get it just to have it in my library. Great floor plans and inspiring ideas. Love Le Corbusier's floor plans for multi-leveled apartments!

I'm impressed with the quality and quantity of plan and section drawings for these varied 20th century apartment buildings. This would be a great reference for a student in a housing design studio

I was required to purchase this book for my Masters of Architecture program. It has a good set of drawings and concise description of relative projects. I did however need to purchase "Key Contemporary Buildings: Plans, Sections and Elevations (Key Architecture Series)" for additional information and plans of one of the projects in this book. Combined, the two books have quite a bit of useful information, especially if trying to do a case study. The included CD was useful but don't expect the files to be pristine. You'll definitely need to touch them up and check line weights before just printing and using. All and all, I think the book was worth the price and is a good addition to any Architectural library.

This book and others in the series and great references. Having all of thes design projects in one volume AND the digital files make it invaluable as a resource and an excellent teaching tool.

This book reveals the beautiful concepts of modern moviment, richly illustrated. The disappointment is that it must have the double of the amount of pages to have more and more photos of the works…

Very good book, I would love to see a bit more of details but that's asking too much. Overall great to understand some famous buildings.

Sehr kompaktes und umfangreiches Buch, in dem die einzelne Bauten allerdings nur kurz aufgeführt werden. Somit toll zum Nachschlagen und zur Übersicht. Toll sind kleine Pläne, die sehr hilfreich sind sich die Bauten vorzustellen.

Great review of iconic housing projects. Great plans, elevations and sections to understand schematics. Would have liked to see some construction details, but I am happy with this book.

Very good documentation and analysis. With the project names and credits, one could go further to Wikipedia and YouTube to find out more about the good and not-so-perfect challenges related to some of the projects. Important history of how social housing started from the 1900s to the better designs after 1965s.
