Can i use a spinning reel on this, or is it only for conventional reels?

This rod is designed specifically for Bait casting reels, the eyelets are to small for proper casting of a spinning reel. It is designed to be used with the Eyelets in the up position for line retrieval

Can I pair this rod with a Penn Senator 6/0 casting reel?

I am not sure what the other person was thinking when he said this a spinning rod. It is not . So to to answer your you can indeed use your reel on this rod .

The guides are soft, braid cut through the 1st like a knife when I spooled it.
