Golden AgePre-Wired Harness for Gibson SG

Wired wrong.
I ended up having to completely unsolder every pot, rewire and resweat every connection correctly myself... which kind of defeated the purpose of buying it at all. But they got their money and I got a little wooden jig shaped like an SG out of it.

Waste of money, just do it yourself.
I purchased this to replace the stock pots in my SG. I followed the directions made the 4 solder connections plugged it in and..... Silence. I went back through it resolderd the connections and nothing. I was worried I had a grounding issue with the stock pups so I bought another set - I was going to change them later anyway- heat wrapped all the wires and still nothing. Frustrated I took it to a local luthier and asked him to look at hoping I was making a mistake. $80 later I find out the switch was soldered wrong and he had to redo the entire switch. The grounding to the switch was not done correctly and the bridge/neck pickups were switched as well. So for $180 I got what should have cost me about $30 in parts if I wouldn’t have tried to take a shortcut. An expensive lesson to learn.

I sympathize with the 2 reviewers. Soldering is actually pretty easy after about 5 minutes of practice. I hate to see people go through this type stuff for something that is rather easy to do themselves. What I do on my guitars is buy good components, that doesn't mean expensive, price doesn't reflect quality so much anymore. Go to a hardware store (or Amazon) and get red & black wire. You can either get individual red & black or get red/black speaker wire and split it down the middle. Then, go to Seymourduncan.com and look up the wiring diagram. They have a diagram for about every possible combination you can think of. It is the Holy Grail of guitar wiring. For <$20 for a soldering iron plus the price of the components and wire, it's better than paying someone to do it for you. And it's fun doing the work, then plugging it in and hearing the results.
