Works well
I need to redo the calibration on the door position sensor, it constantly switches back and forth.

Failed after 15 months
Worked fine for 15 months then totally failed; replaced batteries and tried the 9v backup to no avail. To top it off, this happened while we were on vacation and our dogsitter was locked out of the house- HUGE headache as it failed in the locked position and there was no way to open the door from the outside. It is sheltered from the elements and used less than once a week (not our primary entrance) so no reason for it to go bad other than a quality issue. We'll be contacting Yale customer support, but this is completely unacceptable. We went with Yale over an obscure "Amazon-only" brand to avoid this from happening so we are extremely disappointed. Side note- We wanted a keyless option to keep things simple, but after this experience I absolutely do not recommend you use this product if it's your only point of entry (apartments, etc). Nice build quality, easy to install and the Yale app is decent, but useless if it locks you out!

Great lock
Easy replacement of existing dead bolt. Worked great. But eats batteries. Even using lithium, only lasts one month.

So handy not to have to fumble with keys in the dark.
Love this. Love it, love it, love it! This was very easy to install; if you've installed a deadbolt, you can install this. Took about 45 minutes to install and program. The phone service was very helpful and I didn't have to wait for an hour for someone to pick up. Only downsides are (1) you have to download an application to your cell phone (one more company tracking your movements, your internet, and phone use), and you may be out of luck if you don't have a smart phone. Second downside is that the wi-fi module isn't very sensitive - the unit in our detached garage does not pick up our wi-fi signal, even though the wi-fi router is in the closest room to the garage, so you lose the features that require wi-fi (primarily remote unlocking through the app). I'm going to try a wi-fi range extender, and if that doesn't work, a wi-fi mesh network, with a repeater out in the garage. Hopefully that will fix it. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with this.

Good purchase
Great lock! Installing the lock was easy but setting up the users was a bit confusing. Fortunately one phone call and with the assistance of a very helpful agent got the account fixed and all users setup.

Really poor connectivity
I REALLY, REALLY wanted to like this. And I did like part of it: The way it looked. It also had pretty easy instructions to follow for the most part. But, honestly, almost every other thing about it was awful. Probably the most disappointing thing about it was it’s lack of connectivity and the quirkiness of the app. When I first installed The app, everything showed up fine. But within a few uses, the Bluetooth indicator stopped functioning. Navigating back-and-forth through pages is awkward. And the UI of the app itself just feels amateurish. Some of the buttons do nothing, and others are redundant. Worst of all, bluetooth connectivity was intermittent and Wi-Fi was simply a nightmare. I tried connecting to two different routers, and it would only intermittently connect with one of them. Mind you, I have at least a dozen other Wi-Fi-enabled objects in my house that work perfectly with both routers. I have an Apple TV functioning as a hub to my HomeKit and I have a Lutron bridge that enables me to run all of the lights in my house through HomeKit. In the five minutes that I was able to get it working with one of my routers, I attempted to connect it to HomeKit. HomeKit struggled to add it, and then once it was added, it would only intermittently respond to voice commands, and when it did, there was a long (2 minure) delay. It would also only intermittently respond to manual lock and unlock from within HomeKit. In my attempts to get it working, I did two or three factory resets on the lock and two or three reinstalls through HomeKit. Ultimately it stopped being able to connect at all after about the third attempt. This lock was for a side door on my garage and the reason I chose it was because it had a small footprint for a smallish door. At the same time that I bought this lock, I bought a Schlage for my front door, which is much bigger and the Schlage matched the existing hardware better. After having so much trouble with the Yale, I opted to pivot to install the Schlage on the front door. It was a night and day difference. It installed super smoothly, worked without a hitch with HomeKit. Paired with the app both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with no trouble at all. I immediately made the decision to uninstall the Yale and Replace it with a Schlage. Fortunately, I’m still within my return window. It simply shouldn’t be this hard. The two stars are only for how it looks. And the fact that it fit in a small space.

Easy to use! I love being notified anytime someone uses their code. So easy to change and add codes.

worst smartlock on the market
I was reluctant to buy a lock without a key but was assured by Yale that these locks are very reliable and I shouldn't be concerned. Two weeks after getting several of these locks, one jammed and had to be forced open. Luckily I had access from the inside in this case. I called Yale to express my concern that I was told this "never happens" yet had EXACTLY what I feared happen in a couple of weeks. This new rep told me I should never install a key-free lock on a room with only one door in case the lock fails, exactly the OPPOSITE advice I'd received from them previously. So I had to return all the locks and reinstall the version with a key, wasting a substantial amount of time. Within a week, I had to start replacing batteries in multiple locks. It often takes upwards of 90 seconds to add or delete a user, and frequently fails and has to be redone. The tamper alarms go off regularly even though nobody has tampered with them. The battery pack is dumb, like a 1980's kid's toy where you have to thread a ribbon behind to get batteries out, or find a screwdriver. Every time I call tech support, I get a runaround or blamed for installing things wrong (which they ultimately confirm is not the case). Getting connected with a supervisor is virtually impossible, and the development team apparently needs to review every issue. I've sent photos, screen recordings, etc. to get the same nonsense answers over and again. In one instance, after waiting for a supervisor call back for a couple of days (which they won't schedule), I got a call at 830p on a Sunday night from a "spam risk" number that turned out to be Yale, followed by an email telling me "they tried". Another time, they sent an email saying they hadn't heard from me and were considering the issue resolved, when I was actually waiting on a call back from them. Finally, after weeks of back and forth, I spoke with Omar who seemed to actually have some understanding of the technology. The solution he proposed was unacceptable--to add wifi bridges to each lock and/or reconfigure my mesh network. He told me "it says on the box" that they only work with 2.4GHz which isn't quite the same as saying "doesn't work with mesh", not to mention there is NOTHING about not working with mesh on their site or in the install pdf. I've had Kwikset locks in another location for 3+ years, and while they're not perfect, I certainly haven't had to fix them or call tech support daily.

Do NOT purchase this item unless you have a US or Canadian mobile number.
Do NOT purchase this item unless you have a US or Canadian mobile number. This product can only be activated using a US and Canadian mobile number. I contacted Yale support and they advised that Amazon Germany should NOT be selling this item. The Yale support could not activate the lock for me since it is NOT part of the European product range. Do not be fooled by the shop front Amazon Germany are showing. It is NOT a yale shop, as confirmed by Yale contact support. Amazon Germany offered that I can return the product, however I had already installed the lock and made the necessary holes in the door.

Quick and easy install!
I was really impressed with how quick and easy this was to install. Great instruction booklet, and easy pairing with the app and HomeKit integration.
