BellyGuard Recovery Suit for Dogs, Comfy Dog Surgery Suit, Female Spay and Male Neuter Onesie for Post-Op Care

Our puppy was spayed and we were suggested a surgical suit by the vets as an alternative to the cone of shame. We tried this one out which was much cheaper than the vets one and it is absolutely brilliant. The easy way to unpop at the back and attach it to the front without taking the whole thing off is such a great idea! The material is soft, washes nicely and has a good quality elasticated neck which makes it easy to get on and keeps it in place (it isn't tight) We ordered one then ordered another for washing rotation. I'm writing this review 2 weeks after her surgery and she has not touched her wound at all and has healed very well! Great product. For sizing, our pup is a 7 month old petite working cocker spaniel and we ordered the medium. It was baggy on her chest as she's slinky but perfect in length. If you're unsure on sizing, I'd say as long as the length is good don't worry about the chest being a little big. There's also 2 sets of poppers at the back so there's a little adjustment available.

I wish I'd known about this before his surgery! We've just spent a couple of fraught days watching our golden doodle like a hawk to make sure he leaves his wound alone. The doughnut didn't work - he's so long even the largest one couldn't stop him. The cone made eating and drinking difficult and the rest of the time he was crashing around and whining. Not one of us have slept well. Then through desperation I surfed amazon for an alternative, our sanity saved!!! And it was same day delivery. The cotton fabric is very good quality and light making it cool and comfortable. We bought the XL, mainly for the length but it fits perfectly (he's 34 kg so a big lad). He's very happy wearing it, it has a handy press stud in the middle of the tail piece which attaches to the chest part making it simple to attach out of the way for toilet breaks . He can't get at his wound and is carrying on as normal, no stress, his usual happy self. We can relax, and slept very well last night! Will be getting one for our corgi puppy before she eventually goes to be spayed. Highly recommend!

This was perfect for after surgery, although it was quite baggy around the body, it was suitable for tumble drying after a wee wee accident. Easy to use, pop over his head, under the body, over the tail and then pop the poppers on. Protected the stitches well. Thick material, could tell it was going to last the 2 weeks. Very stretchy and well worth the money.

Great product but I think its going to be too big. I used the guide for measuring my dog but as she has a deeper chest vizsla the neck and chest fits fine but the body is loose around her stomach. I think I should have bought a large instead.

An excellent product. The material is breathable, stretches and very comfortable for our standard dachshund: we found that the small size was exactly right for him ( 17” long in the back, and 9.8 kgs in weight) as the medium size we originally bought was too large round his chest and back legs. The suit is easy to roll up when he needs to urinate, and firmly secured by press studs, rather than Velcro, but still protecting the wound from his hernia operation. We have bought another as a spare, as it is recommended that the suit is worn for 14 days, to allow for healing. It represents excellent value, and we are very happy with it.

Perfect for my 18.5 kg springer spaniel, got the large size. I did find the neck a bit snug but I just cut the elasticated neck with scissors to loosen it a little. My fur baby was recovering from a spay op, and I couldn't imagine her wearing a collar for ten days! This suit is so soft and light and let her belly wound heal without being tight. It gives good protection too as when your dog lies down on the floor the suit shields the belly from germs. I gave it a wash half way through the ten days and put it in the tumble dryer, no shrinkage and it was as good as new. When she had to go the toilet I just unpopped the back poppers and rolled it up a bit. Well worth it for her stress free recovery!

What a brilliant product! Our dog had a recent operation and we weren’t keen on the “cone of shame “ (you can see how unhappy he was in the photo with that). No stress for him wearing it and it completely stopped him licking his wounds. Lightweight, comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Quick wash each day for freshness was no problem to give him a break while we kept an eye on him - or I guess you could buy another. The size I bought was perfect for my 10kg Cavalier. Thoroughly recommend and worth the money for peace of mind.

Bought an XL for my 32kg golden retriever after a spay. Fit well length wise, snug but comfortable around her tummy. The neck was a little tight so I cut this to make it more comfortable for her. There is a hole to pop their tail in and secure the poppers. For toileting I just took her tail out, flipped the extra material under and up securing the poppers and this still covered her spay wound and a cyst removal wound on her upper back leg. The suit was pretty perfect for her apart from the neck. She was really comfortable in it, the material was stretchy enough to let her stay mobile. Seemed to be breathable too, she had to wear this recently in very warm weather and she wasn’t overly uncomfortable. I looked at plenty options and this seems like a fair price for the quality. It also washes really well and stood up to being popped in the tumble dryer

Brilliant for my dog’s spaying. She recovered v fast and I have an active 1 year border collie. The vest has a clip to tuck away the bottom part before letting them go for potty, everything stays very clean and licking is impossible. The vest washes very well too. Look no further.

Worked like a bomb. Only problem now is she refuses to take it off.

Other potential buyers should know that I tried several "onesies" recovery suits for my 8 month old cockapoo after his neutering surgery. He is exactly in the middle of two sizes (med and large). He weighs 21lbs, and is long. So, litsen up: he's a large Medium, and a small Large. My pup was sent home from the procedure with an econe. (Elizabethan cone/plastic cone...) That simply was not ever going to work. So, I started buying onesies from anywhere I could find them for quick delivery. BellyGuard Dog Surgery Recovery Suit, Dog Onesie is the ONLY garment that helped at all. I bought sizes Medium and Large, and kept both. The Large is better for his length, but both work, and work well. They are easy to put on and snap into place. No velcro, no gaps. Easy to unsnap and roll up for potty breaks. (They even hasve a front snap to hold it in place while it's rolled up.) Each size can be modified a bit for back length. Easy to wash and dry. (Every other "best seller" I returned.) My vet warned me that pups will try to chew through a garment to lick; fair point. Keep your eye on your pup and buy this comfy onesie!
