Overall, the book is just okay. I think its a good introduction, but that is all. It does not go deep into relevant theory and principles of an SI Engine, or what differentiates Hemis from other engines (Chrysler, or otherwise). For example, I found several glaring mistakes, omissions and discrepancies in the text concerning the history of the Gen 3 Hemi, and Hemis in general. Were the omissions intentional? Possibly, and this due to the rarity of the 426 Street Hemis (Gen 2, as they are now called) and prior.As for me. I had two 426 Hemis when I was younger; one in a 1968 RR and another in a Super Bee (originally a 383 car). And, I transplanted a 392 (what folk call a Gen 1 Hemi, these days) into a 1970 Dart. Granted, the headers gave me a turning radius of a Knuckle Head with Gorilla Hangers and a six foot Fork, but it was worth the time and effort. So perhaps now you can see why I am a little concerned about the mistakes, discrepancies, and missing information in this book. Mistakes and missing info costs money.Beyond this, the book is actually useful in that it is a notebook of sorts. It tracks down all of the current part numbers, and odds and ends that you would need to tear down, inspect, and rebuild your Gen 3 Hemi. There is nothing really performance-oriented in this book, beyond directing you to this or that company and web address. Ultimately, this book will require a shop manual to actually tear down, inspect, and rebuild the engines that are discussed in the text.Would it be a book I recommend to the novice who has never rebuilt an engine and does not own many tools? If this is you, and you want to rebuild that Hemi in your car/truck/Jeep, then I would say "No". This is not a book for the beginner of that sort. But if you have training, or some practical experience in building custom engines, then yes. You will find this book to be a great reference, and source of foundational information.On a final note. If your experience is limited to 4- and 6-bangers, or wedge engines, or any sort of foreign auto with what sounds like a blender under the hood that is attached at the other end to some obnoxious "fart can" muffler, then please listen to me and go find someone who has experience in building Hemis. Learn from them, first.Hemis are strange creatures. They have their own set of rules. You can't build them like a wedge engine, be it an LS or something else.

A lot of good info, all in one place, with some good clear pictures. Very satisfied with this purchase.
