I remembered I had a piece of pure Italian silk fabric, so I got it out and compared them. I added a video showing the pillowcase next to the fabric, and the texture, feel, and subtle sheen are very similar, which reassured me that this is genuine, high-quality mulberry silk. I’ve only ever used satin pillowcases before, and I wasn’t a fan. The satin ones I tried (from Kitsch) were too tight on the pillow, and my head felt like it was slipping and sliding off. They weren’t comfortable to use at all. I have fine, curly-to-wavy hair that breaks very easily. Now that my hair has grown to just below my breasts, it feels like it has stopped gaining length because of breakage. I do not use heat on my hair, but I would still see broken strands on my pillowcase in the morning. I’ve been searching for something to protect my hair without the discomfort of bonnets, which keep my hairstyles preserved but are uncomfortable and always seem to fall off my head. When I slept on a regular pillowcase, my hair would look dry, frizzy, and messy by morning. My hope is that this pillowcase will keep my hair looking fresh like a bonnet would, but without the commitment of wearing something over my head all night. I just got it, so I’ll update later on how well it works for my hair. The pillowcase itself is very comfortable. It does not hug the pillow too tightly, which makes it much easier to settle into. There’s just enough room so the pillow isn’t bunched up, but it isn’t loose either. I can squish it down, rest my head, and actually get comfortable. I love the zipper closure because it keeps the pillow securely inside without sliding out. I bought the king size in light pink, and the fit is perfect. The color is a beautiful, soft baby pink that isn’t too bright or too shiny. It has a subtle sheen, not plasticky like satin can look, and under light it has a delicate sparkle that makes it look elegant. I just received it, so I can’t speak to staining or long-term wear yet, but compared to my expensive Italian silk fabric, the sheen and feel are almost identical. That comparison really reassures me that this is real, high-quality silk. Overall, this pillowcase is gorgeous, comfortable, and seems promising for protecting my fragile hair while keeping my styles looking fresh. Really good one. The tag says 100% silk unlike other brands I’ve purchased advertised as silk and the tag says polyester. Very soft and easy to wash. Only downside for me is the zipper but that could be my bad for not reading properly.

Right out of the box, I had high hopes for these pillow cases. The look and feel are fantastic. They also proved to be great for a full night's sleep without waking up with skin and hair issues. However, I've never experienced a silk pillowcase that stains as easily as these do. Furthermore, the stains do not wash out (permanent). I realize this could be due to products that are applied to hair or skin close to bedtime. I'm not sure if this is only applicable to certain colors (I purchased Ash Blue). If you've tested other pillow cases previously without experiencing staining, then perhaps this brand may be a good fit, as the quality otherwise is fantastic. If you have experienced staining with other brands, then I would recommend steering clear of this one.
